I think Ime does not like demoting young players. That may be why Reed was kept out of the starting lineup. Whether it was or not, Reed being elevated to the starting lineup this late in the season was a clear sign that FVV is not coming back this season.
The GARM has become a sewer. It’s just a place where people come to hate on everything and everyone. Hate on the coach, hate on the players, hate on the GM, hate on the owner. Do you people not get any enjoyment from sports? I don’t agree every move the team makes, but I think they are making an honest effort to do their best. The Rockets are a top 10 team in the league with two of their key players not in the lineup. With Adams and Fred playing they are probably a top 5 team in the league. Even if we had everyone healthy we were never going to be a top 3 team. We weren’t able to nab a superstar with those lotto picks, but that’s not really the Rockets fault. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the Rockets are unlikely to be a better team than OKC or the Spurs anytime soon. Those teams got lucky and hit the jackpot and we didn’t. In the coming years the Rockets may be able to make moves to become a threat, but not a favorite to win a title. Injuries have derailed this season, so we aren’t seeing what the Rockets could have been. But, that doesn’t mean every person in the organization deserves to raked over the coals. The Rockets have gone from the worst team in the league to a top 10 team. We still have a lot of assets to work with, so I don’t think the future is all doom and gloom. I for one wish Fred had never been hurt as I think he could have helped this team. He’s not the superstar that Clutchfans crave, But, he’s not trash either.
Absolut To lose Bread to this sort of injury. He would’ve been very complementary and I think we would have a significantly better record with him. He still has trade value or player value for next year. I definitely would’ve liked to come out out of the few years of taking in a slightly better position, but it could be much, much worse. I like a lot of what we are doing, and I am excited about the next few years, Relative to the challenges in front of us .
IMO - the very best impact of FVV’s unfortunate and untimely injury is how it could, and probably will, prove to be a major factor in Amen’s overall development.
So many people on this board are just miserable. I honestly wish they'd go root for OKC or SAS so they could be happy. It's not fun discussing my favorite team with people who act like the Rockets are ruining their lives. If the games are making them that miserable then for god's sake stop watching and following.
Meh .... Not really correct either way. I wanted Fred moved in the offseason .... but losing him to injury rather than actually having the point guard skillset replaced on the roster creates a different narrative. Having Fred is better than not having a point guard, upgrading Fred is better than having Fred. Having Amen at point guard and not having any other options is the worst case scenario (Ime not playing Reed is criminal).
Ime just doesn't play Sophomores Reed is 3rd among Sophomores in minutes. Amen was 2nd last year. JSJ was 3rd the year before. Maybe the narrative should be Ime overplays his sophomores
Stupid decision by him. First of all its dangerous if he wants to continue playing NBA ball, but more importantly the chemistry on this team has already been destroyed thanks to KD. He's not going to make a difference.
If those #s are accurate... makes ya wonder about all the villagers with pitchforks that have been complaining that poor Reed has been singled out and victimized by Ime all year...
I feel pretty much the same way. I didn't so much mind trading for KD as getting off of Green was better than not .... But trading away further young pieces and other assets for an older player would be a terrible idea. If you are going to move the young guys, move them for draft picks and or other young(er) players that have a shot at breaking out. Keep churning the asset pile until you find "that guy" and hope you have something left to put pieces around him. No shortcuts that limit the team to a one or two year window - maybe.
