My point is don't think players reached their peak after 2 years especially if they didn't spend 3-4 years in college.
609 pages into this thread, and I’m consistently amazed at people who take time to read and post on a team fan board who want a player to fail more than these posters want Reed to fail. With out defending his value or weaknesses, we just spent the 3rd pick in the draft on him. As fans of the Rockets, we should all be praying to whatever divine power we follow that Reed hits and hits big. Because if he busts or we trade him and he hits elsewhere, it’s going to set us back years as a franchise. And I’m not interested in being a play in team for the next 10 years.
Maybe, but I was responding to somebody who was stating his recorded height was 6'3 out of shoes, it wasn't.
Our team defense is bad with Reed/Sengun but I think it's more about Sengun. Ideally you want your point guard to stay in front of his man but when he gets beat he should be able to funnel him to the big man. The whole defense breaks down because Sengun doesn't protect the rim so one our wings has to come over to help while Sengun is no mans land. What percentage of these "blocks" from any of the guards listed are just swipe down steals?
Reed drops down to 93 from 87th in the latest ringer rankings. Clingan moves up to 78 from 90th and Castle moves up to 38th from 50th https://nbarankings.theringer.com/
Reed still has “it” in my opinion. I think cast is the better short-term prospect, but I would take Shepherd for later on down the road.
Sengun was the starting center on the #4 defense last season. And that's with a FVV who is starting to show his age. I like Reed a lot but if he struggles to stay in front of his man then the onus is clearly on him to improve there. Even Rudy Gobert wouldn't be able to cover for someone who is consistently beat off the dribble. And what if the opposing team has a stretch 5? Is our big man is supposed to cover his man on the perimeter and cover for blow bys from our perimeter players? If Reed develops his offense to an elite level, like franchise player level, then we can talk about building around his defensive weaknesses but not until then.
Yeah, it's not really a detriment to his playstyle at all (I find the whole argument stupid/laughable in general) was just clarifying to the person I responded to. He was 6'1.75 (so 6'2, close enough for jazz) barefoot and 6'3 in shoes, so functionally 6'3 in terms of where his head is, then +41 (lol) for vert then -32" for his reach because even though he jumps as high as Ja, his little tiny t-rex arms still don't reach that high so it looks like a regular 6'3 PG without insane hops when he drives because our brain tricks us into thinking we didn't just see feet flying super high with little arms flapping (obviously I'm being silly, he's a little short length-wise, but his playstyle doesn't really need super length and his quick hands help him anyway with stocks. Just needs to get craftier imo and he'll be fine regardless of size.)
Yeah as I said, his quick hands more than make up for any lack of length with his playstyle. I was mostly just pointing out the person who listed his measurements was wrong despite his assertions otherwise is all. I'm all-in on Reed.
The starting lineup for the remaining of the season needs to be; C- Sengun PF - Jabari SF - KD SG - Amen PG - Okogie Fans hyped Sengun, now they finally see what I have been saying for yrs. He slows down the offense and he lacks defensive intensity. In regards to Reed, Ive always said, he is a 7-9 ROLE PLAYER. He is not and should not be a starter.
you need to shut the fk up and go back to sewers you crawl out every 6 or 7 games when Reed is off. Nobody care about your opinion
In fairness, where else are you going to hear Celsius room temperature level IQ hot takes? Every village needs an idiot and he's ours.
Yep, and he is missing wide open shots - I am sure he will break out but the sooner the better...right now, he and Durant are bricking it up. DD
streaky shooter that’s not all that good at anything else when he’s hitting shots, he looks competent, and when he’s not, he looks like a total liability I’m not impressed
There are 30 PGs in the league that would perform better than Reed has in his role. Rockets PG situation is such so dire that he is the "answer" simply due to is having no choice. He has to be the "answer" for us to do anything
