And yet an absolute loser like JLin can run an MDA system? Are you implying that everyone on this team is worse than JLin? What a load of bs.

MDA also didn't have some rigid system. He adjusted his "system" to work with the best traits of his current roster. It's why he didn't force a 7 secs or less offense on Harden and adopted an offense that could work best with Harden's skillset. Ime on the other hand....

For sure, just like MDA bowed before to Popovich and Steve Kerr, Nash bowed out to Duncan and Kobe.

players aren’t simply “byproducts” of coaching and management. The coaches and management can only take players so far. At the end of the day players are accountable for their actions and performance much like you at whatever job or title you hold in your daily life. No management is responsible for every single decision you make. You get training and coaching but at the end of the day it’s on you.

Coaches didn’t make Reed be an inconsistent shooter or poor defender. They didn’t make Thompson only capable of shooting max 10 ft and they didn’t make Sengun a poor FT shooter, defender, and careless passer.

The favorites don't win it all every year ...

The Rockets are clearly behind OKC and SA but they are as good as anyone else on any given night. All it takes is one injury or a lucky bounce ....

Ime followed VERY closely by KD. Both need to go for this team to become all that it can be with Alpi, Amen, and Reed leading the charge. Tari can go too.

    1. Ime
    2. KD
    3. Stone

Stone gets one more season after he trades KD to properly evaluate all the talent he brought in. If we can recoup some assets for KD and do a "soft-rebuild" while prioritizing Amen/Reed/Sengun and really kicking the tires to see if that trio can work, then maybe we can setup a proper window in 2-3 years time.

...If the trio looks bad next year then you have to let go of Stone to a new guy that's going take us in a different direction.

Who brought this band of misfits together?

Stone is the core of the problem, nothing will change until he goes.

The issue isn't the roster the issue is Ime. We can blame Stone for hiring Ime and that's completely valid... but things would get a lot better with a competent coach.

Please tell me who on this team has the court vision, playmaking ability, handles,IQ and efficient scoring to run this system. I'll be waiting.

To run this system or *a* system. Because if its *a* system then the answer is:

Reed, Amen or Sengun. The issue is that this team doesnt seem to want to build around any of them. Reminds me of that Sarah Marshall quote where Aldous Snow has random tattoos with completely conflicting ideologies.

I'm not ready to decide until the playoff run. We are still in some kind of experimental phase because of all the injuries that happened throughout the season.

    1. Ime - 2nd season, keep dreaming, hes here for at least two more.

    2. Stone - will not go doesnt matter what you guys think, hes locked in for a while.

    3. Sengun - you have to play to his strengths. He's still an AllStar and one of the best when offensive centers in the league. I will wait for playoff games to really have an outlook for Sengun

    4. Durant - killer still, locker room disruptor, not a leader that I expected. I dont think hes gonna go anywhere

    5. Amen..safe

    6. Jabari - no doubt improved his shot. Arch is much better. Right now for me the first one that can go.

    7. Reed...underrated as PG. Offensive juggernaut. Terrible defense that doesnt seem to be improving a lot...seems like an easy fix, dont understand why he cant just stay infront of bigger guys, he doesnt look weak.

    8. FVV...needs to stay behind Reed to teach him more...

Stone also prematurely extended Ime. Given Stone’s role in Ime’s hiring, extension and allowing the Silas debacle can we really trust Stone to find a better coach that Ime (who fell in his lap)?

Edit: Also, the roster is absolutely an issue.

Fred can prevent a trade if he wants to, DD. See below:

Key details regarding VanVleet's contract and status:
    • Implied Protection: The clause exists because he is on a one-year contract with a player option, having already played at least eight seasons in the NBA.
    • Contract Term: The deal runs through the 2026-27 season.
    • Trade Status: While he can veto any deal, reports suggest the Rockets have no immediate plans to trade him and value his leadership.
    • Injury Impact: Following a torn ACL in September 2025, his trade value and likelihood of opting in for the 2026-27 season have become factors in his contract situation, notes this YouTube video.
    • according to Chron and Keith Smith on X

    Easily Jabari.

Get rid of his position all together and use his salary, trade value, and playing time to start a defensive guard school. Directly copy and emulate the Spurs and Thunder model of many fast defensive athletes that can pass/shoot/dribble.

Every one else could keep doing what they’re doing and we’d be good.

    No lol

The gm picks the players, and in this case, for whatever reason the coach does as well

When you have ample time and opportunity to move a player that does not fit and does play up to expectations but dont, it is your fault. If you are relying on reed who cant defend at an nba level it is on the gm (and coach in our case). If you are relying on amen and he is looking like ben simmons reincarnated it is on the gm (and coach in our case)

Would love to see Ime go, but that seems very unlikely. Among the remaining options I lean towards Sengun.

I like Alpy. I just think building a championship level team around his limitations will be tough. I think he has stamina issues that preclude him from being a true workhorse. I also think the defense will always be somewhat of an issue and it makes it difficult to ever start Reed. Don't get me wrong I would want a high price for him given his age, favorable contract and productivity, but in terms of team building I think he if the best candidate to be flipped for a better fit.
