Well today was definitely market manipulation Monday.

It’s so obvious when they work the stock market. Guys are making money hand over fist because Wall Street still takes this morons words seriously.

The five day cease fire thing was pretty clearly Trump signaling again to Iran that he wanted to negotiate.

When they showed him up by telling everyone that Trump's story about them comming to him, hat in hand to negotiate was a total lie, I figured it was going to be back on.

Trump begged for a ceasefire but for ego reasons needed to frame it as Iran initiated. Iran wasn't willing to play along, so the war was back on. I'm guessing this isn't the last time this particular dynamic will appear.

Trump is looking for a face-saving way out of the conflict and Iran would rather get bombed more than give it to him.

The only way Iran lets Trump off the hook is if Trump humbles himself at least a little, and everybody knows that's not going to happen.

Iran knows that the only way the US can pressure them is troops on the ground. They know that won’t happen because of the cost. Thinking Trump is not that stupid.

Trump is TACO-ing on his not winnable war. Trump will still claim victory but US is backing down because the alternative is much worse which they now understand. This will go down as a US loss that all it did was embolden Iran further.

Not only that, but we keep killing anyone in a position to negotiate. This isn't an assembly line of rational leadership; it's a vacuum being filled by hard-liners who see that negotiating with the US gets you killed, too, so you may as well fight.

 

Does anyone still believe this admin has a coherent strategy with the current war? Every act seems reactive.

I don't see Karg by itself moving the needle that much one way or the other in the short term. It's not like Iran is currently getting tons of revenue from it while the war is on and the strait is mostly closed.

If you want to march on Tehran, you could end up with a "mission accomplished" victory and years of insurgency.

 

I don't think anyone believed they had a coherent strategy from the outset. Look at the defenders of it on this BBS: they've changed rationale every time Trump does. There are some vintage neocon warmongers like basso who simply enjoy watching bombs hit other countries, consequences be damned, amidst the ideologically fluid MAGA posters who simply go in the direction that Trump's wind blows.
