Take care of business and take advantage of opportunities. This team is capable of beating every team in the field - but stay humble and play hard.
I have premarital counseling at 6pm on Thursday. I’m hoping UH gets the late game because our marriage hangs in the balance. On a serious note, the path is even more clear for UH. Nothing will ever be crazier than when they played a 15, 10, 11, 12 to get to the Final Four.
With Florida out of the tournament, the road is paved for UH to win the South. Now they just have to DO IT!
I'm so ****ing sick of these 10pm est tipoffs. I spend the whole month of March like a ****ing zombie at work. Ugh.
I hope so and they take advantage because as of now, Florida's loss seems a slap in the face. They couldn't lose last year and beat us (blooper-esque finish), then make notorious history the very next weekend.
We're a late arriving crowd anyways and it's the marquee matchup. I'm concerned, but I'm always concerned. I was concerned when we couldn't get separation from TAMU early on, even though I knew that it was a good matchup and the game should not be too difficult. Illinois is a beast of a team though. They have size, length, athleticism, shot-making. They're not perfect, but they're right there in the same tier as this Coogs team. Sure, little else matters if they're hot and you're not, or vice versa. Apart from that, I'm really curious to see how well we can defend and control pace. They can be turnover prone, but they also often make the right pass. Coogs vary their defense a little, from switching to hard trapping and little in between. If the traps come and the turnovers don't get created, I'm concerned about the Illini getting too easy buckets and their offensive rebounding. It's not necessarily about Tugler/Cenac/Sahko vs the Twins and Euros, but also about whether our guards can defensively rebound well enough in rotation. Offensively, I know our guys are more perimeter oriented, but the Illini can be foul prone, especially on athletic guards. Offensive rim pressure and FTs could sooth scoring droughts.
Potential F4 run incoming if we can take care of business vs these next two teams and not have a let down like we did vs Florida last year (who my wife kept saying can someone beat this ****ing team already). Absolutely fun times these Sampson years have been. Harden and Sampson have given us some awesome basketball in this city for over a decade now.
We handled that press like it wasn’t even there. There was a time when all we did was try to skip pass in the tournament and it did not go well. Lessons learned. Saturday was like silk. Proud.
Texans had that ridiculous late Monday night game and the worst playoff starts, the Rockets constantly have 8:45 pm games at home, the Cougars constantly get 9:00 pm tournament games. The networks treat the city of Houston like Stephen Root in Office Space.
The later start is the marquee time slot though. 6pm starts are god-awful this time of year, with post-work traffic and it still feeling like the middle of the day. Very likely the 6pm crowd is awful compared to any other crowd.
I attended Lamar, Texas A&M, Houston and finished at Lamar. While at Houston I took care of Shasta III. I also had Oiler Season Tickets one year while at Houston. I watched Earl Cambell in his High School State Championship and know people who knew Bum at various stages of his Life. So I have many teams to root for.
big10 fan seems just as arrogant as sec fan average big 12 fan, however, is much more refined, better looking, has more money, gets more hoes, smells better, etc.. just an observation.
Did anyone else completely forget Houston beat Illinois in the second round of the tournament four years ago? Ramon Walker is the only player still on the team.
Yes he is. The culture of Tyler was hard work and love your mama which extended across racial barriers. At his HS Championship game, the cheerleaders made a banner to wish his mother a happy birthday. Just as an aside, it was played in the Astrodome.
