Credit to Ime that for the Aaron Holiday + Reed minutes that unlocked us.. but then almost gives away the game with the random Tari Eason sub.
Legitimately scared the rest of the house screaming at the stupidity of him being the one inbounding. we all knew it was coming.
I mean I am with you - I haven’t screamed at a coach/team in years - I’ve screamed to celebrate twice in the last two days - but last night my dad called on the Alexa in my room to make sure I wasn’t hurt and was just yelling at the game
You’re also the guy that wants to trade away Amen every other post. Your basketball brilliance is unprecidented.
I made a whole individual thread for Ty Jerome and was basically booed that we didn’t need him lol. These people don’t see the vision. Memphis signed him for 9mil
That's the one major move Ime made in this game that was great. The Alpi/Amen/Jabari/Aaron/Reed lineup in the 4th that almost seemed done out of desperation sped up the pace and brought the Rockets back into the game quickly. And to Ime's credit, he stuck with them for most of that quarter(aside from subbing in KD for Jabari at one point). The problem is we were down 9 heading into the 4th because Ime once again went to his all wings lineup that's he obsessed with. And he compounded it by having only one shooter out there in KD alongside DFS, Tari, Amen, and Jae'Sean. I don't need to harp on the end of game management since everyone's already trashed Ime for how poorly he handled that. But I'll also throw in that despite his all wings fixation, he still refused to put in Okogie until the 4th quarter. Even Jae'Sean who hadn't played in weeks due to injury was suddenly ahead of him in the rotation. Also, why did Clint never play in this game when the team was struggling at times on the boards and to guard Bam?
When he still can't shoot 3 years from now and you guys are still saying "if he develops" .... in the mean time he's the reason KD and Sengun are doubled so often. Just like with Jalen .... You'll come around.
Amen and Jalen are not comparable as 3rd year prospects. Amen has basically been playing at an All Star level the last few months. What has he shot from 3 the last 20 games?
Close. 8/21. 38%. 77.5% from the stripe for the year. Even funnier still is that for 7 games prior to that he didnt take a single 3.
Heck, I’ve yelled at the screen more than once during the course of this crazy season, but not as loud as I did during this game. What magnificent lunacy. I think it’s a specialty of the Rockets.
He has no gravity. 24 made 3's out of 106 shots for the season. 47 games without a made 3. 30%ish shooting for the season from anywhere outside 3 feet. Instead of being blinded by Amen, try watching his defender, particularly when he's off the ball. It's essentially playing 5 on 4 unless he's in the paint. I know it's a polarizing idea, mainly because he does "everything else" so well .... but he's the main reason this offense looks like crap so often. Sprinkle in DFS and you get the brick layers union. The only comparison I was making to Jalen is that eventually fans will realize he's not the untouchable franchise player they thought he was. Eventually it's time to move on.
This Rockets brain leakage got to stop, they had a timeout and Retari didnt call TO, or even coaching staff. A 420 player and amateur coaching skills. To say this is the best game of the season is a stretch. Heat is a playoff team but in the West, they would be the 7th team and over.
Youre looking at Amen now not Amen in a few years. And thats fine, you think he'll never develop any sort of gravity even though he's done pretty well at developing the corner 3 for himself. He will be a multi time All Star and a multi time All NBA Defender. Chance he becomes much more than that. And you want to move on from that for...what exactly? Im just confused at what youre trying to argue. That this team with Amen as the lead handler will never get anywhere and instead we should.....do what? What do you expect this team to do with him moving forward?
15/64 from the corners for the season? .234 I think he's a great defender. He'll be a perennial ALL NBA defender .... I think he's a net negative offensively despite the stats. He might win you 10-12 possessions a game, what about the other 80 where you are playing 4 on 5. What should we do? That's a good question I think you see what you can get for him. Top 4 pick, I'd take it. The build around Amen idea is dead to me, he has to fit in with the rest of the team, not be built around, he's not a Luka, Jokic or SGA level player. I don't know, maybe they need a better offensive mind running the show to limit the spacing issues - Funny Kerr can hide Draymond with another non shooter.
The main reason this offense has looked so bad is they have been dribbling the ball past half court and handing it to Durant and Sengun. Everytime they go away from that, the offense runs just fine. 3 pointers are not the only thing that produces spacing. You have to have guys that get to the rim off the dribble and this team has only one guy that can do that. Amen has been averaging over 20 points a game on great efficiency for over a month and defenses really have no answer for it. I guess you haven’t noticed that the whole sagging off of him isn’t working anymore. The Rockets have finally started running plays for him and Reed. They should’ve been doing it all year. You are the one headed for a wake-up call. Most of the Amen detractors have already gotten it.
Different ways of thinking. I trust in Amen's mentality, athleticism and will to improve a lot more than rolling the dice on a potential finesser (Peterson) chucker (Dybantsa) role player (Boozer) or another project (Wilson). Its sort of irrelevant. The Rockets are committed to him and no matter how much his detractors scream, hes getting whatever on ball reps he wants because he's the best prospect they've drafted and they need to pick a direction. And that direction is Amen (and Reed). Pretty sure Sengun gets shopped this offseason due to them not working that well together on offense (and Sengun just being a bad defender).
