But I want ANYONE to make a leaping catch to preserve the lead in a WS game ( for the Astros in 2026). Maybe it will be Chas.
I think Matthews has earned his spot, especially if Pena starts on the IL. I don't see the benefit of Trammell over Cole or Matthews unless Pena is good for opening day AND LF will be manned frequently by Yordan and/or Altuve. Both Brice and Zach have the skills to K 30% of the time and still be dynamic, positive contributors who help this team win. Trammell doesn't. Give me talent. Give me HRs and SBs and exciting plays in the OF. Give me 1st to home on a line drive to the gap. Taylor has a higher floor but can't do any of those things consistently.
Not to put too much stock in ST stats but I have noticed that Abreu has been shaky. Don’t eat me alive, Pollyanna’s. actually go ahead. It’s fun. perhaps keep my wife out of it though.
Who do you think the starting OF is? LF: Joey Loperfido CF: Jake Meyers RF: Cam Smith My guess is once a week Yordan will play LF, so that Altuve or Diaz or Paredes can DH. Fans have suggested a platoon in RF giving Cam a break versus LHP. I am unsure if the Astros will do this, especially to start of the season. I do not see where OF5 gets more than occasional PT. Given this, Trammell makes sense. Cole and Matthews can play everyday in AAA. If the Astros do want to commit PT for another OF like Cole or Matthews, I can see them platooning that player at CF and RF (and even LF). The Astros will be playing musical chairs in the IF, so they might go whole hog and do the same in the OF.
Yep. There's just not enough PT for the kids...thus Trammell and Allen can be the backups early. If any of the OFs suck for a month+, hopefully those kids playing every day in AAA will be ready to step in and piss excellence.
I would've left Burrows in. Last start of ST for him and would love to have him get out of this jam in the 5th. That is what will make him a great pitcher this season.
I know this is ST, but why in the F would you put in a reliever that is absolute ass (going by careers numbers of almost 7 ERA) to get Burrows out of a jam. Should have just left Burrows in to finish off the inning. Now what you did was just punish him for allowing guys to get on base. That is stupid
It's not about runs scored but about Burrows starting the season on a high from ST. Astros just F'd with him on his last start. If you want to see what you have in Burrows then leave him in. If you want to see what you have with your team then put someone worth it to get out of the jam. Don't give up.
