The good news is that Europe and Greenland will soon be an Islamic caliphate and then the world will be safe from the evils of Trump!

Not clear, but we know the following:

The Dragoon Regiment is Denmark's armored force and has recently served in Yugoslavia, Kososvo, Afghanistan and Iraq. The Jægerkorps are Denmark's special operations soldiers. Members of the French Foreign Legion were also deployed, as was the Swedish SOG, their elite special ops group. France had an additional battalion that was ready to be deployed, probably from the same Mountain Infantry Brigade as the Alpine Hunters.

It's interesting you mentioned the Nazi occupation of Denmark earlier. Apparently, after the end of WWII, Denmark has vowed it will never again surrender without a fight. Danish troops have standing orders to forcibly resist any foreign actions on Danish soil, which includes Greenland. You can scoff at the power imbalance between Denmark and the US if you want, but any taking of Greenland will not be painless. Now, with the new French policy of providing a nuclear umbrella for European countries, including Denmark, it would be even more idiotic to try to take Greenland. And indeed, it seems this show of force intimidated Trump enough to back off with both rhetoric and military planning--to proceed would mean fighting NATO troops from several countries. We'll see if it lasts.

Edit: This is another example of the Trump administration thinking they are the only ones on the global stage with any agency and all others must abide. It does not work that way and when pushback occurs, they blithely move on and create another crisis.

    Great salient post.

TLDR: Europe flexed its own Spec Ops and nukes in response to Trump Greenland blathering; TACO right on schedule.
