So you would answer the question differently if asked by someone you didn’t consider “anti-white” or “anti-American”? How you think about the question changes depending on who’s asking it?

What answer would you give if you were asking yourself the question?

It’s not even clear to me what her opinions about black people used to be just based on her casually using the slang “n-gga”. I wouldn’t assume anyone — white or not — hates black people just based on that usage. Maybe we differ on that.

I don’t see you defending anyone on the right or anyone who is white when there is a racial slur. You have selective outrage like most on the left.

Why don’t you believe me? Can you point to me accusing anyone on here of hating black people because they used that word (“n-gga”)? Or are you just stereotyping me because I’m not part of your culture war tribe? Isn’t this stereotyping precisely the behavior you despise on the Left when directed at you?

So you finally agreed that her making that statement online as a teenager does not itself mean she hates black people. That was my only point. You thinking she’s a terrible person regardless because she posted negatively about Israel and American troops is a different matter. It’s not what this is about.

Now you take exception for me supposedly never defending white people when they are accused of racism due to use of a racial slur. I can’t be held responsible for accusations I didn’t make or wasn’t paying attention to, nor can you. I am quite certain I’ve never accused or would agree with an accusation that someone is racist simple because they casually said “n-gga” in a conversation online. See this post from a few years ago, for example. I’m sure I could dig up actual examples of me defending white people against accusations of racism, but why is that on me?

If you don’t like others making baseless accusations that you or like-minded folks are racist, then you should stop doing the same because you perceive them as being of the “Left”.

 

Actually you can call me racist all you want. I’ve never posted anything racist here, so you or anyone else can say whatever you want and it’s automatically baseless. Why do I care if someone says something baseless about me? If it’s not on you to defend white people for making a racial slur, then it’s not on you to defend brown people either.

As I said, I can dig up cases of me defending white people against accusations they are racist. The stupid controversy that JJ Redick is racist against Chinese people because he had a mouth fumble on Chinese New Year and people thought he said “chink”. I defended him. Then there was the case of the OKC broadcaster using “cotton-picking mind” in regards to Westbrook and he got attacked online over it. I defended him. If there was a case of some white person being accused of hating black people because they used “n-gga” and I actually saw it in here while I was an active poster, I’d probably weigh in that I disagree. And I certainly wouldn’t attack someone else for disagreeing with that accusation because they lean differently politically, which is what you’ve been doing to me.

Anyway, this has been a frustrating exchange. Sorry you can’t get past your mistrust of me.

Oh, and you *should* care if people don’t respond to the substance of your arguments in here and instead respond with baseless personal attacks, if you are looking for fruitful discussion. And if that’s not what you’re looking for, I really don’t know what else is the point. You don’t think trolling and poo-flinging gets boring?

I don’t know. I’m sure I have. I usually do not care if a person is a liberal. Only when they are anti-american or anti- western culture or pro socialism or pro communism. Usually, that is a liberal and liberals are always the ones screaming racism. So, I call them out when I see them doing it which is quite often. If some redneck was saying the N word or stereotyping black or brown people of course I would defend against it.

Almost my entire family is liberal and I love my family. They are just brainwashed like many here.

 

Good, and genuinely glad you can look past political ideology when it comes to personal relationships.

There isn’t usually the same motivation to do that when interacting with strangers online. So trust breaks down and these conversations tend to just divide people further. I often try to look for common ground, but it’s not easy without some baseline trust and willingness to give others the benefit of doubt.

 

Yeah I have a very low level of trust for the brainwashed, anti-American liberals on this site. That has been earned, btw.

 

I think conversations would be more productive if you put aside your lack of trust and respond to what they’re actually saying. That way you can either expose them in a convincing way (point out clearly where they are being inconsistent) or if not that at least make it clear where the disagreement lies.

Perhaps you think that’s naive because that level of trust won’t be reciprocated. I disagree. Trust often will be reciprocated, and mistrust as well.

 

I would like to feel I am pretty open minded, and I can have a conversation with anyone as long as there genuine and tells the truth, I have some far-left friends who I don't agree 100% on topics that are more cultural and thats OK............the one thing I can't tolerate are LIES or someone whose entire case are lies turned into a meme and that's probably why I have so many on ignore, Lying to me is the one thing that will make us not be friends, virtual or in real life.
