There will always be a lack of depth when you are top heavy which happens when you trade for KD. We lost 3 players to get him and we got capped out. How was the offseason a disaster? He got KD, Capela, Okogie and JD Davison who were all pretty good. He missed on DFS but nobody could predict DFS would be this bad even when he got back.
Stone better get another big man in the buyout market because if Capela goes down with injury, we are basically done.
No chance. He’s here to stay and I will not follow the rockets like before as long as he’s there with KD and refuses to get a coaching staff who cover up his flaws. I truly like it when we lose this year.
Ime’s seat is hot because he’s been packing on the pounds. Get back in shape and get back in suits. I’m tired of these coaches looking like they just rolled out of bed in sweats. Have some discipline and class and start dressing like a champion.
I could see him being fired after next season. Possibly even during the season if things really get ugly. But I agree that management will give him an undeserved pass for this season because they don't want to admit they f'ed up with the extension. They'll use the injuries as an excuse for underperforming.
They are stuck paying one of the worst coaches in the league 8 figures a year until after the 2031 season no matter what happens. I just don't see them eating that much money just to fire him.
I don’t know who’s in that first pic, but that outfit is marvelous. That outfit is good for a few extra wins a season.
Was he ever asked about Harper’s comments of running the same play 15 times in a row in any post game interviews? He basically spit on the logo with that comment “F*ck the Rockets” would’ve been more respectful
Ime coaches the way I coach when I get handed a volunteer youth league team except I actually care and put more effort. My wife tells me I need to stop embellishing reenactments because I look like a fool.
If they flame out in the first round this year and then have the same result next year assuming the roster is relatively healthy, I don't see any justification for Ime returning for the 2027-28 season. If they refuse to get rid of him at that point simply because they're too cheap to hire a better coach, then they're signaling to the fans that they're not interested in competing and Toyota Center will go back to being as empty as it was during the tanking seasons.
It's Tilman's money .... I'd fire Ime immediately after the last game of the season. Hell, I'd do the same if it were my money.
I just looked it up. NBA teams make anywhere from 5 to 10 mil per playoff game. So just a couple extra home games in the postseason each year thanks to going out and getting a competent head coach would more than make up for Ime's annual salary that Tilman would have to eat by firing him.
the real question is how did Stone and Patrick get manipulated into giving Ime such a premature, unnecessary and lucrative extension. I didn’t hate it at the time but I was surprised and thought it was unnecessary.
