#1 The core stay healthy #2 Cam Smith improves on last year and has an OPS around 800 #3 Walker needs to meet his predictions.... of 25 hr 80 RBI and a 755 OPS...
That would be awesome. But there's no a single hitter on this roster who's had close to that sort of improvement, year one to year two. Improving from the .670 range to .750 would be a super impressive jump.
The math is simple. Don't lose any games this year and we win the World Series. *assuming a nuclear bomb doesn't destroy the world first*
Yep. I think Lambert and Munoz are locks. Just a matter of who gets the last spot on the staff as to whether or not Roa makes it. I wonder if he has an opt out like Lambert does.
Agree BUT Cam was already over .750 last year for half of a season, then he cratered down the stretch. Was it not being able to adjust? Was it simply wearing down from playing an amount he never has before? Was he not getting the help he needed from the hitting staff? We will never know But we do know that he is capable of being over .750 because we have seen it. I say this not to argue your point, just to say I don't think .800 or even higher is out of reach for him this year, even if it isn't the most likely outcome
Cam had one of the poorest launch angles last season even when he was raking. When his contact dropped, those lasers to the fence became line outs and ground outs. It looks like he has fixed that issue so far this off-season. He should more homeruns and less ground outs.
ETA: What is Spring Breakout? In 2026, MLB Spring Breakout will again be a four-day event showcasing baseball’s future -- the current stars of Minor League Baseball – in 16 exhibition games played between teams composed of each MLB organization’s top prospects. The third edition will be held from March 19-22 at Grapefruit and Cactus League stadiums during Spring Training.
So much for the infield "logjam." Astros should erase that word from their vocabulary given the injury history the last few years. Possibly already down two infielders before Opening Day.
Walker and Meyers have looked horrible so far with the bat. I’m afraid Meyers will regress to his norm which is a below average bat.
Not as bad (ok maybe as bad) as Yainer Holy **** we will be lucky to score 2 runs a game at this rate.
