Lawrence is going to be a stud. Doubt he makes it to 2-59

 

Love this kid... but 12 fumbles is problematic

 

Good coaching can stop that. Remember that’s why Jonathan Taylor slipped in draft. Not saying he’s Taylor.

 

The only reason he might fall to 2-59 and this problem is correctable.

 

Free agency has completely changed my approach to the draft. If Ty Simpson was available at 1.28 I would try and work a deal with the Jets (1.28 for 2.33, 4.103 and a '27 2nd). Then:

2.33 - Kayden McDonald, DT - Ohio State
2.38 - Malachi Lawrence, EDGE UCF
2.59 - Gennings Dunker, OL Iowa
3.69 - Mike Washington, RB Arkansas
4.103 - Michael Trigg, TE Baylor
4.106 - Oscar Delp, TE Georgia
5.167 - Tyren Montgomery, WR Casserio U
7.243 - DJ Campbell, OG Texas

 

Change Kayden McDonald to Caleb Banks and I don't love back to back TE picks (esp, if one is not Sam Roush).

But that is a d@mn good draft... not sure if Jets give up the 2027 2nd to move up 5 spots, but one can hope / dream

 

I read somewhere that Caserío has never drafted between 16 and 32 in the draft. He either trades up or trades to the second round.
I have a feeling he will trade down out of the first round.

 

I would love it if Texans draft him. You can't teach that size and speed, but fumbles you can correct if coached well. I think Texans should seriously consider him, but he might get taken before Texans even think about him.

 

I haven't looked into him at all. Has he always had ball security issues, or was it just last season?

 

After the combine, he is being mentioned as a 2nd round prospect (before he was in the 4th / 5th / 6th discussion)

 

That's why I doubt the Texans get him...he did meet with the Texans though!

 

Somebody put up a stat (HoustonStressans?) that The Texans have met with ALL of their 1st and 2nd round picks under BDN

 

Hoping the 5th year option for their future QB makes the cost attractive to NYJ. In all honesty I wanted Trigg and Roush (future pillars of the Texans' 12 personnel offense) but also wanted to keep adding to the Oline with Dunker so I grabbed Delp instead at a later pick. I'm very weary of Banks' foot and his tendency not to play hard/swarm.

 

If he is there and the Texans pick at 28 I want Woods. I think he fits so much better to the scheme than any of the other first/second round DTs. One guy who I like later on though, who I think "fits" is Skyler Gill-Howard. Not a name I have seen mentioned but I think he is the type that Meco likes at DT.
