I'm really not liking the body language out there. Does anyone else think some of these guys are over it?
The gm ND owner gave up on the team so why shouldn't the players? We need to clean house in the off season
It is sort of embarrassing.......dig a hole and hide in it. Build a Mini Culture in 2 years just to see it crashing down.
At a minimum I think Amen, Reed, Jabari, and Josh are still trying. Everyone else, IDK. I don't even know what Tari is doing, he's got plenty to play for whether or not the Rockets have any success in the W/L column. Probably playing through injury and screwing up his career even worse. One of the worst bag fumbles I've ever seen.
Not sure if they've given up. Ime is so bad at what he does, his insane level of disorganization might be looking like the team has given up. I'm out on this team though. Would have cancelled my league pass if the POs wasn't this close. What a **** show of a season. 0 entertainment value. Give me a refund and my wasted hours back.
The team is going nowhere until they hire the right coach. The team can see this and thus it shows on the court.
Culture matters. A GM saying it isn’t our year and the star player mocking his teammates is anathema to a good culture. I don’t think they have quit, per se, but they certainly are in a huge funk and are no longer the ‘sometimes you, sometimes me, always us’ team they strove to be in the beginning. I don’t blame Udoka as much as many on here, and I don’t even think it is his fault, but a new voice and a fresh start with a positive/optimistic coach would do wonders. His style raises tension and anxiety, which is the opposite of what is needed in this type of funk. Different styles of motivation suit different situations, and I strongly feel that most personalities on this team need encouragement, optimism and ‘rah rah’ more than yelling and scolding.
After Durant had that back court violation I turned it off. Durant throwing back to back passes to the Lakers and his overall crap play and then criticizing his teammates is what will doom this team. He called Jabari low-key r****ded but he's the one playing that way. I called it karma. I think this game was thrown for the Lakers to win. League needs Lakers at the top.
It's got to be hard for the players to see a light at the end of this tunnel. We've seen what this group can do, and offensively it's messy and flawed. They know what they can do. We can hang with good teams but will always struggle to score. I think they've stopped having fun. Sengun stopped having fun months ago. Amen hasn't had any fun all season.
No, they haven't given up, they just have a 65 IQ head coach and that leads to undisciplined, really stupid basketball.
I don't know about give up - but they are not enjoying playing as much and they are not as focused- but that could be a biproduct of having played like a .500% team for a long time now. I do know that the Rockets made me a decent amount of money last night, as I knew they were not beating the Lakers. Sloppy passing, coupled with several players that have poor basketball instincts and a lack of real altering in the post leads to mediocre overall play.
Lakers are just this good. Need sengun and to be on point to beat them. We have before. The chirstmas game was nice, its obviously we are not playing as good as we were. Im hoping this turns around soon! Get back on track!
Amen, Jabari, and Reed still seem engaged, although Amen’s barking at the refs last night shows a growing frustration. When a coach or a manager in any walk of like never accepts accountability, he will lose his employees’ respect.
I canceled my league pass. And I’m gonna be better off for it. Watching this team is not enjoyable. It’s like watching the news. And the lack of accountability coming from our GM and coach makes me sick. It’s terrible leadership.
I think his athleticism and this being a contract year still motivate him to some extent, but Amen looks super miserable out there as well, perhaps as unhappy as Sengun he’s just a more stoic type. You can see how the young guys are fed up, the interactions between them feel a lot more genuine and has that ‘we will get through this bro’ feel to it, they would kill to get back to last year.
