It tend to think, Sheppard isn't attacked cuz he totally sucks. Its's cuz all the other Rockets are plus defenders, and by default a mid/average Reed is the only option to even go at.

Houston Texans version, its kind of like a team "hunting" Calen Bullock. But that's cuz it's better avoiding All Pros Stingley & Pitre, and Lassiter. Its who ELSE can a team attack?

(Comparing Bullock to Sheppard with NBA analogy). Since NBA plays both ways, itd be like if safety Bullock lined up on offense and gives 5 catches, 125 yards, 1 TD in 7 targets. His overall contribution both sides would outweigh that 1 average side

He doesn't factor in Ime's ego and stubbornness.

    Those are the reasons

It also helps to understand the stat one uses to try to prop up their arguments. lol.

His effect on the offense far outweighs his deficiencies on defense. He has to be accounted for which makes the defense stay honest therefore opening up the floor.

He doesn’t need to start quite yet, but he needs To play Major minutes and take the second or third most shots on the team.

Reed/Amen/Smith I truly believe in and is worth building around.

Need a shooting center and a versatile 3 and D wing That differs more than Eason.

Basketball can still be unit vs unit. As in, Starters vs Starters, and Bench vs Bench.

With Reed & Tari starting, now it's a bench unit problem. The bench can give up any advantage the starters get, cuz they suck more than the other bench

Having DFS, Capela, Okogie try to "build a lead" is a big ask. So Reed on the bench isn't the worst thing for now. As long as his minutes are major

Ive been saying this for a while and made a thread specifically about Reed's defense.

Hes not a great defender and it looks awful at times. But he's not actually just free food for opposing teams. He by himself is not giving up way more points than what people consider good defenders are.

Didn't read the article, but the Rockets have 4 draft picks (2 FRPs, 2 SRPs) before then.

Not all of those players will be on the Rockets by the time an expansion draft comes along. Just a click bait article.

The Rockets would DEFINITELY choose to protect Tate in an expansion draft.

From the moment FVV went down the Rockets should have started Reed and empowered him to be the PG. That is and was always the team's highest ceiling--with Ime as the coach.

If they had done that from the beginning of the year, people would know their roles and you wouldn't have KD and Tari trying to dribble and create. Reed would also be more comfortable in that role at this point in the season. As it stands right now, they spent all season with multiple guys humping the basketball and no one is really settled into that role. Guys are constantly doing things they aren't comfortable doing and no one has really settled in to being the primary ball handler and someone you can depend on in the clutch.

For all the talk of the Rockets don't have PG, Ime never fully gave the guy the most equipped on the team to actually be that guy. He has played him this year (even through bad moments)....But like last year, when Reed is on the court he should be given those reps as the PG. He should not be a Luke Kennard hybrid. Especially not on this team that lacks a traditional floor general.

Ime is in waaaaay over his head when it comes to offense. He's got no clue on what to do from a personnel or scheme standpoint.

And another poor shooting night (1-6) from 3. 32% last 10 games. Why does he get a pass in this department when that’s supposedly his specialty? Why does he deserve to start when his shooting has been inconsistent since late December?
