I don't think it's fatigue and more about injuries. Also explains why he straight up looks like a complete different (and worse) player in many games. He is again questionable against the Lakers with a back injury. Hope this isn't becoming something chronic.
Yeah, he certainly wouldn't be the first player feeling the effects of leading a Euro team and struggling with finishing out the long NBA season on top of it. He needs a little mini break before the playoffs but it's hard to ask a 37yr old to do more carrying of the team and the West is so tight, we can't afford to really drop many games if we dont want to tumble into the playin tourney. Honestly being forced to play in the playin tourney would be a HUGE detriment to our team who is already limping into the end of the season. At this point - Houston's best advice is to selectively minutes load guys likes Alpi and Durant down the stretch - give them lighter minutes when the game appears in hand or when we are certainly going to lose. The problem is - I think rotations are Ime's achilles heal anyway so asking him to be super strategic about how and when he uses KD and Alpi is likely not going to end well. In hindsight, trading for KD was a good move but given Alpi had already committed to leading his European team, it had the unintended consequence of spreading Alpi too thin this season. I want to trade Alpi for the strategic benefit of putting together a stronger team around a more uptempo style of play with Amen, Reed, Tari, and Bari but I have sympathy for Sengun too - his play these days is most certainly not an accurate reflection of how good he really is....just a long season and he has been grinding for many months now.
They should sit Alpi until he is 100%. Our seeding doesn’t really matter this year, we are not going to win in the playoffs this year. Playing Alpi hurt probably screws his trade value and I’m not sure Alpi helps us win until he is healthy. We should be leaning heavily on Amen, Reed, and Jabari to give us a better idea of what to do in the off-season. We already know who Durant is, not to mention overworking him. He’ll be 38 next year and is playing in the world championship in the off-season which will take even more tread off his tires.
A lot of those aren’t bad? He gives a good contest a bunch of times but sometimes shots will still go in, nothing you can do about that. He leaves too much of a gap to his opponent sometimes, I guess he’s nervous about guards blowing past but that’s more to do with Udoka obsessively trying to switch everything and precisely why Spurs’ 3 guard rotations have worked so well this year. He’s also not using his arms as well as he could, which is something small that could make a ton of difference. Guy is clearly a step slow lately, if you watch his clips earlier in the season it’s a night and day difference. I’m also highly doubtful that he has the conditioning yet to do everything Udoka asks of him with his physical style of play on top on offense, and centers typically grow into their game more slowly to begin with. He has the second highest MPG for a center behind Jokic despite that one game where he was on court for like 1 minute. Looks like he’s fried both mentally and physically.

Sengun has a bright future ahead of him, but the roster needs to be optimized and the offensive system needs to be tweaked around him. we’ve done a few good things with him as far as on offense, but we have not diversified at nearly enough. I’m good to trade him in summer or keep him. I completely agree with the people here saying to let him rest.
Well, at least we knew his inconsistent play is due to his injured back. I hope that while he is gone resting that the team doesn't drop down to the play-in in his absence.
As much as I think he's overrated and his style of play will never lead to much success, our offense is amateur hour without him. He's functionally our PG.
It’s almost impossible with the schedule Phoenix has and the clippers are way too far behind. I think the 6th seed is the most likely.
You sure about that? Rockets fourth quarter vs. Lakers without Sengun: 12 points, with 6 turnovers and 4 points in the final six minutes. JOFs just love to straight up lie lol
Sengun's been playing hurt, which was likely a product of being worn down by Eurohoops. Rest him. Let him get there. Then, PERHAPS...trade him in the offseason... Fire Ime's incompetent @$$ too!
As long as it's not Giannis. Guy is breaking down this season and probably gonna get worse for a guy relying on his athleticism. Plus stats stop getting calls with the Rockets and that's a big part of his game.
Trading Sengun is not addition by subtraction. He should only be traded for real value that aligns with our other youthful players. Sengun is 23 and I believe this year may feed him a much needed slice of humble pie. I think he comes back to us or another team with a renewed energy and team first approach. He may not fit with this iteration of the Rockets and this coach, so I support a trade for the right return. Giannis would be a disaster.
