Yea this is clutchfans they be on suicide watch if the rockets where .500 lol... In the near future Ime needs to maybe hire a better offensive coach. Maybe switch some lineups here and there. Yet pulling a player when you need him totally is questionable and im assuming this is where all this hate spews from imo. They alright with him, but come playoff time i hope this gets iron out, some of the bad juju you see in the 4th quarter where the team totally collapses. I see Ime cant understand it either, he looks frustrated on why it happens !
Last year it was 2nd in the west and lost to 7th in the west in the playoffs. What's your point? Do you stop watching basketball after the regular season and just hoist the "5th in the league" trophy to celebrate?
People don’t like objective reality. They put the blame all on Udoka, Stone, and Durant while ignoring the biggest culprits or usual suspects, which are the beloved players and fan favorites on this team. The reality is a combination of the players’ inconsistent performance, limitations, and an imbalanced roster. But despite this they absolve certain players from any accountability (Sheppard, Sengun, Thompson). .
lol insanity, we've lost so many close games in the final minutes because our coach is completely incapable of drawing up a play.
I forced myself to watch the rest of the second half this morning and it was not pretty. You're right about Ime, he is a good coach, but he's not a great coach. I'd prefer someone who has a system that doesn't rely on one player iso'ing and/or backing down their defender EVERY POSSESSION in order to score offensively. Last night was a poor outside shooting night, no doubt, but there in the third quarter he could have taken a time out and settled the team down. Instead he waited until we were down 19 and we never recovered. And then how do you come out of a time out every single time and not have an easy play drawn up for them to make an easy bucket. It's an out of bounds play.. you should have like 20 of them to pull from your hat for an easy or at least semi-easy bucket! Watching our defense used to make me so happy and even now that has taken a step back in a lot of games. If he's to stay we just need him to show some creativity on the offensive side of the court and figure out why his defense isn't working currently and fix it. NGL I kept thinking, maybe he was holding all his cards for the end of the season/playoffs? But now I doubt it, It's so close to the end of the season, we need to see something now.
It’s not just the injuries. Player limitations. Not good enough. Reed Sheppard isn’t good enough despite what faithful fans want to believe. Sengun and Thompson can’t shoot= load up 2 on 1 then play a zone scheme against the other 4 players. Switch to man then delay blitz Sengun on the spin or short roll. All of this is happening because Amen and Sengun don’t stretch defenses. Everything is in the paint.
We are about to be a play-in team. And we are one of the worst clutch teams in the nba. We were supposed to be upgraded with one of the best scorers in the history of the league. The offense is some of the worst I’ve seen in over 30 yrs of watching rockets basketball. I’m not calling for him to be fired, but if he doesn’t do better next yr, he should be gone. And please stop blaming everything in Fred’s injury. If Fred was a single point of failure for this team, everyone who has anything to do with roster construction, including Ime, should be fired.
After the season is over, the only team remembered by everyone is the Champion. Division and Conference Champion banners are silly.
When the spurs ran the same play against Sengun multiple times with no adjustments, is that really coaching?
Why do the fans suck? According to you it's all a part of the scripted show and one giant conspiracy.
You just blame the players and the makeup of the team. In reality, it is a combination of factors. It is obvious to anyone that Udoka is bad at game management. It is also obvious that Ime has his preferences for the type of players he wants and, although I have no proof, I see his fingerprints all over this roster construction. You lack objectivity on the coach and GM. I concur that we have roster construction issues, but a panic move that guts the youth and future assets, to chase vets on the downside of their careers (like Giannis) is just as, if not more, knee-jerk than blaming the coach. Sometimes the fans are correct, even if they can't provide imperative evidence. I'm totally against trades that give up our future to chase a ring with a fading star like Durant, especially with a coach with a decades old philosophy on how to win in today's NBA.
The idea that Ime Udoka is the reason that the Rockets are struggling is false. Ime Udoka has some flaws and has made some mistakes. However, injuries and poor roster construction are a big part of the issue. The Rockets are not bad. In fact they are in the top 20-25% of the NBA - and if KD and FVV are healthy next year, they can be a top 3-5 team in the NBA. They just are not in the class with OKC or SA, and some of the mistakes made are obvious in hindsight. I think that expectations were very high because of the level of the rebuild and the amount of draft picks involved. However, there are no guarantees - and we just may always be bride's maids and not the bride. Udoka is stubborn - he is slow to make adjustments, and he can be arrogant to a fault. However, he also does a lot of things well. I personally think they need to overhaul the organization - that can include keeping a lot of the existing people in the structure, but the model is outdated and not competitive against the best organizations.
what system would you run? Because fans rarely if at all talk about what offense to run with Sengun and KD. The Rockets don’t always run ISO. They use post plays with Durant and Sengun and Jabari at times. They run 5-3 or traditional 5-1 screen and roll. And they played horns backdoor action when they had Adams. They also try to get Sheppard open using down screens he’s off ball and double drags on ball. They also love the up top screen skip pass back for some reason. They’re limited because Sengun and Amen can’t shoot so they can’t run pick and pop or Amen coming off a screen for a pullup. That’s out of the equation. Amen can’t post up so that’s also not in the equation. They have to run multiple screens for Amen, put him in dunkers spot or in the corner unfortunately. Their screen and rolls are ineffective with Sheppard since he isn’t quick or consistent enough to get in the paint. Sheppard gets handoffs but again not explosive so that usually is ineffective. So what do you run besides isos and posts for your best 2 offensive players? This is what fans don’t see. We are limited because of ability. And overall our shooters aren’t consistent enough (Sheppard, Tari, Bari, Okogie, Dfs)
No I don’t. I have criticized Udoka not using Tate Capella and JD more. I also faulted him for trading for KD. And I never said he was perfect or not at fault. I put the onus in the top 3-4 guys since they make the same mistakes almost every single game and they’re the main guys on this team. I also explained ad nauseum team composition and overall abilities of the roster. That’s not blame, that’s an analytical assessment
By all reports both nationally and locally, Ime has his fingerprints on all the major Rockets moves. He chose FVV over Harden and he chose to cut short the young player development time by trading for KD and adding only players over 30 to the roster subsequently to go all in. He doesn't get a pass for bad roster construction that was built for his needs.
I wonder if Rockets got Malone or Jenkins and we see the same result with this group. Would they call these coaches low iq? Idiot? Stupid? Dumb?
It can be both Nook. It's not all on Ime and Stone, but conversely it's not all on the players either. I've been managing people for 40 years. I have had times where I hung on to employees too long. In retrospect, I should've cut bait sooner rather than later, following my gut instinct, rather than being emotionally attached to the employees who have fatal flaws. I understand some folks may disagree, but I think Ime has a fatal flaw, Narcissism. I could be wrong and Amen also has a fatal flaw that can't be corrected, but the evidence as I interpret it is that he is extremely willing to be trained and put in the work to correct his shooting. I could be wrong and letting my emotions get in the way of cutting lose my favorite player. It is my opinion, that Ime's philosophy of how to win in this iteration of the NBA is incorrect, and his Narcissism will prevent him from changing. Hanging onto the false hope that Ime can take us to a championship is fool's gold. I'm not satisfied as a fan with regular season success.
