The Rockets starting five of Alpi, Jabari, Amen, Tari, and KD is now 9-8. It's time Ime admit to himself that this combination DOES NOT work.
Just flat out not a starter if he cant shoot. He doesn't anything well on offense anywhere else to cover that.
Translated: "My son Tari got badly embarrassed on a wicked block by Wembenyama. I'll be honest, that freak play by freak Wemby made my son look like a little kid in comparison. Wemby blocked Tari so bad, it sent the ball to {any random distant place}. My point is Wemby is that dominant now to everyone, not just Tari. So just gotta give credit, take it in humor, and just adjust past it" The joke is that even as Tari's biggest cheerleader mother, she can't protect Tari. I think "Africa" was just whatever metaphor came to mind. Don't think it was ethnically insensitive, or wrongly not knowing Wemby's home country. (Or it can be a super "black-centric" joke about getting sent back having to even start life back over at the "motherland roots", which makes it more deeper lol)
Or in Short: A coping mechanism, basically telling Wemby is the shiznit and her kid can do no wrong, and Wemby would have sent anyone's shot to Africa.
Am I the only one who thinks Tari is not healthy? Extremely slow, no explosiveness. Playing him in the 2-guard spot is laughable at this point. The effort is still there but it looks like someone tranquilizes him before games. I really think he’s playing hurt.
It's certainly possible. I've noticed that his performance has nosedived since he started playing B2Bs right before the break. It wouldn't surprise me if he simply can't be relied on to play on consecutive nights without that leg flaring up. In which case, bench the guy, alternate between him and DFS in the B2Bs so at least one is available, and move either Reed or Josh into his starting spot.
