I don’t care how athletic he is, you just can’t have two non shooters as your starters. If you won’t bench Sengun because you are paying him 35M, move Amen to the bench and start Sheppard, stagger Sengun and Amen’s minutes, have Uncle Jeff take all of DFS’s minutes. Always have 4 shooters on the court and you will get a better flow on the offense.

Although this season is looking lost, I think Amen has been better than Alpi this season. I think if we have to bring one of the two off the bench, I think it should be Alpi. Maybe Jabari Smith as the center? Start Reed and Amen in the backcourt. That will probably also fail but I'd like to see it tried. Maybe Alpi off the bench can recover some of his efficiency.

It doesn't matter who you bring off the bench since they're both gonna play most of the game anyway.

There's no tiny tweak here or there.

One or both of them has to become a reliable shooter AND Sengun must become decent defender for this team to go anywhere.

I think that's the hope again this coming offseason- that either Alpi or Amen can become a 33 percent 3-point shooter

    Trade ‘em both @Corrosion

    Start the retooling.

For now, bench the traffic cone who backs his ass down from the 3pt line. He can have all his touches with the 2nd unit (defensive guys who don’t need the ball)

Reed & Sengun = major traffic cone … like having an EZ pass toll tag, free ride to the basket.

Reed-Durant-Amen-Jabari-Capela (Capela good for about 18 minutes a game. need to sign another center…Boucher? Not sure who else is out there)

Or like the other thread, Reed-Okogie-Amen-Durant-Sengun(yikes)

Or just keep running the same ****, whatever. “Just not our year.”

I'd prefer Capela too but i know they'll never bring two long-term deal guys off the bench*

lol at benching Amen over Sengun

the offense looks better when we’re not force feeding touches to the most inefficient 20 ppg scorer in the NBA, and on defense he’s so damn lazy that the rest of the team has to scramble to try and protect him

it takes very little to score on Sengun

This thread needs to be renamed to "Tari to the bench is the only option right now"
Reed is a better playmaker and 3pt shooter than Tari...as the season progressed, Reed is not a huge liability on defense as he was at the beginning.
If Tari cant hit the open 3 then he's starting to become more unplayable...DFS is starting to find his rhythm which is what we need heading into the playoffs.
I dont understand why we're giving minutes to Aaron Holiday...he haven't been useful since November, smh...either give minutes to JD or bring in a player like Dinwiddie or Lonzo Ball to help us with point guard depth heading into the postseason.
The way the Spurs trapped KD and Reed just further proves Amen is not a point guard

Or maybe this is also the problem beside alp lack of energy and poor defense?

Dude, if you’ve been watching recently, Amen is our best player not named KD. You want to bench someone, how about the other non-shooter who has significantly regressed this yr? If Sengun can’t finish around the rim, he’s not that good given his deficiency in defense and shooting. Sengun has been the biggest disappointment player-wise this yr. Or maybe bench Tari, who’s shot has completely disappeared and who actually looks slow and like he’s playing hurt.

The only silver lining to this season is hopefully we can sign Amen to a significantly below max extension. Once that is done a choice needs to be made between him and Alpy.

If it were up to me I would keep Amen. He is versatile enough to a contributor in a lot of different ways. I think we are actually ruining his development with our shitty play style. We should play fast and give him the green light to setup early offense against a back pedaling defense. If nothing is available he should basically operate as an athletic Draymond clone setting screens for Reed and KD whether on or off ball and getting easy looks as the short roller to either pass to a corner shooter or finish himself.

Not an Alpy hater but man is it tough to build around a big with high usage and mid efficiency. I would be interested in what he could fetch on the open market.
