If we just sit back for a moment, does "Operation Epic Fury" sound like something the peaceful, good-guy, white-hat nation comes up with?

I hope Congress shows a bit of fortitude, what with the cost of this nasty, hate-generating carpet bombing, and the lack of a clear goal in sight.

Imo we've screwed ourselves worse than hurt china . Even if the gamble pays off , china will find a way to develop more energy. My main issue is that our credibility is just shot. Even getting Trump out of office , he's made moves that allies and enemies alike will not forgive or forget.

The next time we are "negotiating" with someone it will be seen as a ruse and the peaceful outcome will have a lower probability.

I still cant believe we have Maduro in the US on ****ing gun charges.

Strategy and game theory always relies on beliefs. I dont think we've ever had a more corrupt president or government than right now. So , i have to question everything .... even if that video makes sense, im not inclined to believe that is Trumps logic.

Even without the security umbrella of the United States, China will have a difficult time invading Taiwan due to the sea and terrain of Taiwan and decades of fortification by the Taiwanese. Without a total blockade to make the island fortress into an island prison, the Chinese will have a hard time doing a surprise invasion and any fronts will be heavily contested.

China also seems content at not being the US and waging war for sport.

The Chinese seem very disinterested in flexing their military capabilities outside of Taiwan unlike the old great powers. But that will likely change if China does become the world’s hegemon.

A lot of Iraqis have mixed feelings towards Iranian influence and the Iranian government. The Iranians have provided a lot to the infrastructure when other neighbors did not -- but there is a lot of tension there.

The decision has basically been framed as Iran or Israel and a lot of Iraqis under 40 want "neither".

As for the Kurds, like most groups of people - they have been screwed over before, but they also have screwed over other groups of people. There are number of other ethnic groups or tribes in the region that want sovereignty as well ---

Frankly only the US has the existing logistics to do this type of war and if we do not decisively win this conflict (or are at least perceived as having decisively winning this conflict) that advantage will go up in smoke as countries around the world that traded their sovereignty for American protection realize that the guarantee would not be fulfilled. Sort of like what happened in Ukraine.

It's funny you think the Chinese will need to do a surprise invasion when in reality trump will sell out the Taiwanese in a heartbeat. You see the amount of damage cheap Iranian drones are inflicting on us assets now imagine chinnese manufacturing into mass producing them and the nature of war fare has changed forever. We can't compete with their manufacturing base.

We have used more missles defense systems in Iran in 4 days than what we've produced in 3 years. Neoliberalism has destroyed us

Stop this bull **** --- Iran is not going to take down the United States.... Iran isn't Iraq or Grenada by any means, but they can barely keep their own people from overthrowing them.

This type of propaganda peddling doesn't help anyone.

Sorry, but if you are going to talk about values and breaking laws lady, you might want to take a step back and look at that man you are paid to suck up to. LOL, she's something else. Just another woman so desperate for fame she will spew anything, while tooting Trump's horn to make him happy and keep her job.

I don't think neoliberalism is to blame.
My understanding is that the Iranian Shahed drones were copied from German industrial designs from the 1980s when the Germans built drones for hunting radar.
The license for the drones were given to the Russians who made substantial improvements to the Iranian designs and have effectively field tested them through the Russian Ukraine War. The new drones have upgraded Russian sourced chips to enable GLONASS guidance to avoid disruption from GPS.

It's just economics for why we don't have a defense system that can take them out. $20,000 drone vs $150,000 interceptor.

Personally don't believe the Kurdish leaders care about sovereignty. They're more interested in the cash.

I think the Kurdish people are interested. I think the leaders just pretend to care about it because they don't want to share the money so they have to invent another way to motivate the troops.

As for unhappy Iraqis, I'm sure you're right. It's just that the place is almost half sunni and more than half shiite, there are Baathists and others, natives and non-natives. For millennia, whoever's in charge is happy and everyone else is not. Would be nice to see that change to something more secular.
