Lance’s stuff seems to have better movement on it but his command still doesn’t seem there. And he’s 2-3 ticks below his peak velo. I think he is cooked.

Lance has missed a ton of time. If he is going to make an unlikely successful comeback, it may take more than a few games to get settled in.

I missed it. Was that more on Pena or Lance?

 

Right now he is a guy with a 90-92 mph FB and a SL/CU that move but he can’t command. The FB velo ain’t coming back. He can be effective if he gains command of those other pitches but his flashes of dominance pre-injury came from his badass curveball paired with a FB that was 94-95 and could easily sit 96 in crunch time. He is a totally different pitcher with a much-diminished repertoire. He is a pretty low-ceiling/low-floor pitcher right now.

I personally think he needs to focus on throwing his FB very high in the zone.

 

They gave Pena the error and he should have caught it but it was also a terrible throw.
