He might be referring to when Lincoln wanted all Blacks in the US deported to Liberia. He was quite the disguised racist, that Lincoln guy. (inb4 Trump wants everyone deported)
That seems like a reach - I suspect he is saying either why did there need to be a Civil War or why was there still racism, Jim Crowe and other issues after the Civil War....... I will give him the benefit of the doubt that he isn't talking about Post Civil War because Lincoln was killed.... Pre Civil War there were attempts made, but I guess it is fair to second guess it. I do like that he doesn't talk in absolute terms - because it is true, a lot of this stuff is complicated.
