    IIRC suicide is not only a sin; it is an unforgivable sin not that you will find any Jesus quotes in the NT saying this.

    At least in the evangelical tradition, since all your sins are forgiven, if you sin by committing suicide its forgiven anyway and you still go to Heaven. Its not a practical roadblock. Evangelicals don't entertain suicide because they also believe they have a commission in this life to fulfill (and might have an unspoken, visceral, healthy fear of death).

    The Catholic church had said its a mortal sin - a deliberate sin that must be confessed and absolved, which is hard to do when you're dead. But, I think back in the 80s, the catholic church walked that back a bit and doesn't assume suicides are damned. Most protestants don't insist on confession and absolution for forgiveness.
