One of my closest friends went to CU. He texted me out of the blue the other day to say: "Also can I just say...please relegate my college football team out of the top level of football. It's an embarrassment at this point."

"Worst" comes in different shades. A 3-0 start doesn't diminish Kansas' historic "worst" status or make UT's losses to them any better. Washington State has a similarly terrible history. Colorado and Nebraska are two examples of historic highs to "worst" lows considering pedigree and expectations. Rutgers is a school that shouldn't even be in the Power 5 but got in because of location.

Off the top of my head I have to say Rutgers like another poster Colorado seems just below mediocre.

Rutgers in the BigTwhatever: 32-66, .327%

Colorado in the PacX: 47-86, .353%

Aight, I'll give yall Rutgers, barely (honestly I totally forgot about them being in that conference)

    What about Vandy?

Yeah, Vandy is good one as well.

The thing that sets Colorado apart is they at least have a history of being a pretty good program.

Rutgers and Vandy were my first thoughts.

Also Arizona St, and Washington St.

I’m pretty sure Indiana could go undefeated for the next decade and still be a below .500 team over the course of their existence. That’s impressively awful. (Too lazy to confirm, but I think it’s about right!)

Vanderbilt (worst team in the SEC every year)
Colorado ( where coaches go to die)
Arizona ( they fired the guy with the most success in recent years and its been worse since then)
Arizona St ( they fired a guy on the field last week and they haven't played in a big 6 bowl in 25yrs)
Mizzou ( they make a lot of money in the SEC but have a couple barely make a bowl years is about all since the move)
    Illinois
    Rutgers
Indiana ( last time they were decent Lee Corso was their coach )
