It is WELL documented (due to exactly how ridiculous and dumb the quote was, and continues to be). And please let me know what "context" you find, as I mentioned in the post you replied to, the guy doubled down on it just recently (I think within the past month or so).

But I know how this goes; you are presented with "facts" (that might be a foreign concept for Trump supporters now, as we are lied to consistently and with no shame); then you play a serious game of mental gymnastics; ultimately asking rhetorical questions, changing the subject, or dropping it completely.

It is also the responsibility of individual states to also look after their constituents - especially since Trump's leadership in this is not written into law nor or the constitution.

I am genuinely interested in the psyche and thought process of folks trying to defend the indefensible.

Is there a modicum of the thought "well, that's kind of a good point."

Or is it like "this snowflake is triggered, he hates orange man, this is what the republicans said would happen, I have to double and triple down now and go on the offensive?"

Some facts I can see are trustworthy.
Some I can present a different yet valid interpretation to via a different set of facts.
I like to be objective, unlike some in here.

Then why is it when individual states want to delay opening schools, the President threatens to withhold funds?

It is a QUOTE, said on CAMERA, and REPEATED. Hahaha I don't think we need to insert the Beautiful Mind gif here, this is not advanced trigonometry.

What am I evading? Trump and his administration has screwed this up. Sure, people continue to be irresponsible. It certainly doesn't help when the President has mismanaged the situation.

So the lack of a national coordinated plan of action is everyone's fault but the President's?

Lost my shape - trying to act casual!
Can't stop - I might end up in the hospital
I'm changing my shape - I feel like an accident
They're back! - to explain their experience

    Isn't it weird
    Looks too obscure to me
    Wasteing away
    And that was their policy

    I'm ready to leave
I push the fact in front of me
Facts lost - facts are never what they seem to be
Nothing there! No information left of any kind
    Lifting my head
    Looking for danger signs

    There was a line
    There was a formula
    Sharp as a knife
Facts cut a hole in us
    There was a line
    There was a formula
    Sharp as a knife
Facts cut a hole in us

    I'm still waiting...I'm still waiting...I'm still waiting...
    I'm still waiting...I'm still waiting...I'm still waiting...
    I'm still waiting...I'm still waiting...
    The feeling returns
    Whenever we close our eyes
    Lifting my head
    Looking around inside

    The island of doubt
It's like the taste of medicine
    Working by hindsight
Got the message from the oxygen
    Making a list
    Find the cost of opportunity
    Doing it right
    Facts are useless in emergencies

    The feeling returns
    Whenever we close our eyes
    Lifting my head
    Looking around inside

Facts are simple and facts are straight
Facts are lazy and facts are late
Facts all come with points of view
Facts don't do what I want them to
Facts just twist the truth around
Facts are living turned inside out
Facts are getting the best of them
Facts are nothing on the face of things
    Facts don't stain the furniture
Facts go out and slam the door
Facts are written all over your face
Facts continue to change their shape

    I'm still waiting...I'm still waiting...I'm still waiting...
    I'm still waiting...I'm still waiting...I'm still waiting...
    I'm still waiting...I'm still waiting...

    I didn't deny this.
I did however ask for context - which you duly failed to supply.

I have said elsewhere hindsight is always 20/20.
Trump is not responsible for people to not use masks, not social distance, not wash their hands or sanitizing common contact surfaces.
    He is not your maid.

    https://www.us-covid-tracker.com/?time=all

Link above for the 7 days moving avg. It never went below 20k since April. Perhaps you are looking at individual dates and some of those did go down to 18-19k. You don't use single day because the States and the US as whole do not report all cases on some days - usually Sun, Mon, Tues are down days while Wed, Thur, Fri, Sat or up days. You want to avg the week out for an accurate view of what's going on.

Anyway, 18k, 22k, 25k, whatever the number isn't that important. They are all very high. As a quick comparison, South Korea and the US has the first case on the same date. They both reach ~500 cases per day in early March. By the start of April, SK has under 100 cases per day, while the US has ~20k cases per day. As they relax restrictions and open up, the US spike while SK continue to keep it under 100 cases per day. The point stand - experts warn against opening up too soon with high case load, prior to crushing the curve. The CDC has guideline and criteria that weren't followed for re-opening. It was a reckless gamble and we are all paying the price for it. Side note - perhaps Trump was too keen on the heat, and that his hope that the summer heat would just "vanish the virus" away was foolish and he ignored many that warned against that assumption.
