Oladipo not only coming back from injury but he has had his battles with Pacers FO. And the trade is not one for one - House and Rockets FRP also included.
Saw this too. ORL should not be interested in GSW top 5 pick because one thing Magic do not need are more young inexperienced players. They want and need an all star scorer. One that can space floor and play Clifford defense. Love is interesting but he is another 4/5 and Magic have young bigs coming out of their ears. I also still believe that Magic are still gunshy about their Ibaka/Biyombo experiment when they signed bigs for huge contracts and had to get rid of young talent because not enough playing time (Tobias Harris). ORL is desperate for an all star level scorer, not a PG (invested in Fultz) or another 4/5.
Eric Gordon will not net us more than an equally aging player with a lot of money left on his contract at a different position where it makes sense for both teams. House is not much of a sweetener nor is our first round pick. A lot can change depending on how the playoffs unfold but right now we have very very little to offer in a trade, so should not expect to net much back.
I have heard this song before. Then Ariza was traded for Kelly Oubre. And EGo is more of an asset than Ariza. And with EGo out, House value will continue to climb. News out of ORL is that they like McLemore, would rather not trade him.
That’s not a similar story at all. Ariza has 1 year at 12M and the second year at 1.8 guaranteed. How is that similar to what EG is guaranteed for the next 3 years?
EGo is a better player than Ariza. CF loves to devalue our assets. Re-signing Ariza with Bird rights should have been the smart move. At the time Ariza was traded for Oubre his contract for 1 year at 15M. Later signed 2 year 25M with SAC before being traded to POR. EGo has more value than you believe.
I hope so. But an average of $18 mil or something for 3 more years at least is a lot, especially for a league that probably will have most teams wanting to cut salary moving forward.
Aaron Gordon would really give the Rockets pause... he has the age (24), size (6’9”), wingspan (7’0”) and athleticism (40 vertical) .... those are things the Rockets need and covet. I am sure the idea of running Covington and Gordon in the open court and defending excite Morey. On the other hand... Aaron Gordon cannot shoot. It isn’t that he cannot shoot 3’s, he just cannot shoot outside of 3 feet. He is really bad at it. Combine that with Westbrook not helping the spacing AND losing Eric Gordon’s shooting..... That is an interesting trade idea.
It is his ability to rebound, run the floor, has size and a good wing span... elite athlete... also I don’t think people realize how bad a shooter he is. If you remember a few years ago he shot the ball really well for half a season and got a lot of attention... a lot of people seem to think he is a 35-37% three point shooter... and don’t realize he is basically Josh Smith shooting the ball.
Eric Gordon isn’t untradeable on his own. He can be moved for other big salary guys... Rockets anticipated that when they signed him to the extension.
Jeff Green supposedly could not shoot 3ball either. Shooting 32% for his career before being signed by UTA in beginning of THIS very season. Jeff Green is now shooting 41% beyond the arc for Rockets, that is the best % on the team. Rockets space and pace system plus Harden/Russ gravity create way more wide open 3 opportunities than any other team in NBA. These are the easiest shots to make. Our system helped improve 3ball with Jeff Green, Ben McLemore, Danuel House, Gerald Green and even Kenny Faried. And despite shooting 31% from 3 this season, AG was shooting 34% the last 2 seasons. AG would be UNLOCKED and a tremendous asset in Rockets system, offensively AND defensively.
Yes that is true but most if not all teams would rather keep their players vs Eric Gordon is the point
This is a more realistic trade than people think. First off Horford had a slip in his game this year. He defended well enough but his offensive efficiency went down. Second, Horford will be 35 years old when next season starts. That is a dinosaur, especially with his offensive game slipping. Third, the Sixers need guard help and really the fit for Horford is bad in Philly. Fourth, Horford makes 8 million more a year than Gordon. Gordon’s last year is not guaranteed so the length is the same. Horford has a bug out his last year but it is for so much money, it isn’t worth it. Fifth, Daryl Morey is a fan of his game and tried to sign him when he left Atlanta. He nearly signed with Houston. Sixth, Horford (even slowing down) fits the Rockets defensively. He can defend on switches and communicates and switches well. What could be a problem is that his wife doesn’t want to leave the North Eastern US.
That is all the Rockets expected when they gave him the extension. No one expects a star back. Aaron Gordon cannot shoot, makes 20 million the next few seasons and struggles offensively. Al Horford is going to be 35, makes 8 million more a year than EG and slowing down. Plus the Sixers need shooting. There isn’t a huge market for him. There are others out there too... those are the type of players the Rockets would likely target and they can make a big difference.
AG can hit the open 3. Harden will give him those open looks. Easily. And he is a demon in the open court. Imagine him running floor with Russ. Terrifying.
AG would be a perfect fit, idk what you guys are smoking to be down on him. I just dont think we have enough to get him
I think our only viable targets are players on terrible contracts. -Horford -Blake Griffin - Kevin Love EG, tucker, would fit really well in Philly, Horford + Mike Scott (40% 3PT last year) and a 1st rounder would be fair to unload the contract and get two great role players out of it.
