I'd put San Antonio ahead of Austin. A lot of Austin's "affordable" tacos are good, but definitely skew toward appeasing suburbanite tastes. That said, the suadero tacos at Suerte are among the best things I've eaten in town. But, the restaurant's price point takes it out of every day consideration.
ionno man any random food truck I pull up onto on south congress etc blows whatever I’ve had in Dallas and Houston out of the water ..
Lmao hell no dude, those are commercialized fast food tacos, torchys ain’t bad. I’m taking about no English, chickens roaming around cash only food trucks
i live in austin and will say san antonio beats us in the taco wars. but i agree that the taco trucks are where its at.
Does El Taquito on Riverside still exist? That was the only decent place I found when I lived in Austin from 2006-2010.
Vera Cruz all natural; has some great tacos in the Austin and Round Rock areas. Not native to Austin but the puffy Taco’s at Lupe Tortilla are excellent. Anyone know where to get good puffy tacos in Austin? In Lago Vista, Dave’s Taco truck is pretty good as well as Casa Mexico’s truck.
I like Torchy's, but as far as great Tacos, nah. They don't even have good corn or flour tortillas. I just happen to like their ingredients and hot sauces.
I forgot the sarcasm tags. I know CF considers Torchys the taco GOAT. They're always good for a salt bomb.
Wasnt going to bring this to the general taco thread, but it belongs in an Austin specific thread. Not even sure from Houston if any of these even exist anymore but I really want breakfast tacos when I watch it. The places he went in Austin were: Mi Madre’s Joe’s Bakery Tacodeli Torchy’s Valentina’s Tex Mex BBQ Tamale House East Veracruz All Natural Pueblo Viejo Dai Due Taqueria Juan in a Million Rosita al Pastor El Primo Tyson’s Tacos That "real deal holyfield" taco from Valentinias TexMex BBQ looks amazing. May have to visit Austin to get one.
Are you serious? Houston has some of the best breakfast tacos anywhere. My Favorites: Alamo Laredo Brothers Are you even from Houston?
