I think we judge the performance by comparing our per capita death rate to other countries'. South Korea and China are probably best in class. Probably unfair to expect us to outperform them even though they had less lead time than us. But, can we outperform France, Great Britain, Germany, Australia, Brazil, India? We should be able to beat most if not all of those countries. Don't think it's unfair to call it a failure if we don't.
MADA Make America Die Again "Because, let's face it, Meemaw and Peepaw, they weren't getting any younger folks" (turns to teleprompter on right) "and as Charleen Darwin said---uh, Charles---"
Well the MORON in chief did send millions in ventilators and masks to China - when it was obvious we would need them. https://www.dailykos.com/stories/20...xI-tmyDBchN2uyM6GY4mVkZJgZY5rafGZamzJkCqH9UN0 DD
Yes, this was a big ****ing mistake. I think he and others here were dumb enough to think it wouldn't come to bite us in the ass and it just couldn't happen here.
Actually, sounds good to me. We send them supplies when they need them. Then, when we need them, China -- the world's biggest factory -- repays the favor by sending us what we need.
If that's possible.... he's already caved on China Virus labeling so I imagine they've hammered something out.... maybe he won't point fingers if they keep the medical supplies coming.
Don’t you know that idiot still thinks that the Chinese created it in a lab. His claims which like so many other things of course is a lie. That’s how the troll known as @Senator works
If we do achieve that number it appears it will be because we overestimated the lethality of the disease versus the effectiveness of our response.
Wait a minute .... Some of you have been screaming about how several million were going to die. If its mitigated to "only 200k" .... instead of those doomsday projections .... what do you call that ? Honestly I don't believe the death toll reaches 100k - that is assuming social distancing actually works and we start to see fewer new cases in the coming days.
Several million death was estimated when Trump was selling flu virus and "under control" kool-aid. He was on the same side with virus most of the time. Now Trump finally treated this thing seriously and had some clue of the matter from TV ratings. Only 100k death, he said. a very good screwed job.
So his excuse for completely underselling the enormity of the scope of the crisis is "he wanted to keep people calm"?
It is fine for a leader to avoid causing panic. But it is not okay for him/her to outright lie and minimize the problem to do so. ESPECIALLY when minimizing the problem runs counter to the most effective way to deal with this crisis - convincing the public to socially distance and stay indoors.
