As said before, everyone called it the Wuhan virus, but with attacks on Asians in America (and elsewhere), it's wiser not to call it by place of origin and avoid long term stigmatizing.

Changing the name won't stop people from getting pissed off at China, it's government, its people, or their "weird and exotic" eating habits.
