Yes that's the likely route, but it didn't come from people eating bats and snakes in Wuhan like China said and it isn't a super virus created in a lab like some have speculated. It would be nice if they added the conspiracy theory from China as well. That's basically all my point was.

You need to know what you're dealing with. I'm not sure you think they knew in early December, but as of today, we still don't know:

    It's actual origin
    It's incubation period
When and how long its contagious
    How it spreads
    Mortality rates

These are all pretty critical to making any kind of educated decisions on how to stop it.

Yes, we do. SARS didn't destroy the world. It didn't have tons of quarantines. Maybe it would have turned out that only 5 people died from this and then it goes away. We have no idea, and we don't quarantine massive population centers everytime we have some unexplained deaths - the world economy wouldn't be able to function.

There are also people out there who think the world is flat, or believe in a religion that was founded by someone who said making a fake religion was a good way to make money, or that gravity is fake, or any number of other absurd things. It's not exactly meaningful.

Austria along with Switzerland, Croatia, Germany and France decided to keep the land borders open.
So this will keep happening more and more.

Meanwhile Italy has 320 confirmed cases and now 11 dead.

Ehm..so what you are saying is unless China and the world discovered the intermediate species, the beyond any doubt incubation period, the beyond any doubt mortaity rate they should have done nothing??

According to this logic, we should have done nothing about Ebola too, since we still havent found its actual origin
Let the disease spread all over the world with millions of dead until science can say all the details.

The truth is you dont need to know all these to initiate simple protocols of containment.
The CCP knew about the pneumonia and hid the truth and refused to act until 1.5 months had passed since the first deaths occured.

Why they didnt tell the public to wear masks?

Why there did no research on the contamination chains and immediately isolate all the family members and close contacts of the patients?

Why they didnt notify the WHO in December?

Why they didn't give samples to international labs to analyse the RNA?

Again and again you keep repeating QUARANTINE QUARANTINE, like this is supposed to be the first measure of containment.
    Wrong.
This is one of the last resorts to containment not the first step!

China irresponsibly refused to take actions and when belatedly did so they did the most extreme one. Too late for that!

LOL at bringing up SARS like it is supposed to be an example of a successful response!.:rolleyes::rolleyes:
Of course there were no quarantines.

The CCP hid the truth methodically from the world and the public for more than a year.

If it wasn't for two whistleblowers doctos who knows how it would have ended up

It is NOT thanx to the CCP that SARS went away.
It is IN SPITE of them.

And we see how they repaid the whistleblower. House arrest for life!

    Flatearthers do not hurt anyone.

The law of physics are vastly different, surely, bats are a source of many diseases.

They might still be kept in a lab than at a Sea Food market.

Why is that people have the wish to educate you, tell you what to believe?

    Bunch of grown ups here.

People still need to get 2nd and 3rd opinions before making a decision.

One additional thing about SARS. SARS was only spread by people who had actual symptoms. It was far easier to limit the spread since there weren't carriers that showed no symptoms. Additionally, Covid-19 seems to have a much easier time spreading.

What makes this so different is that someone with no symptoms can silently spread the disease. So the need for effective quarantine and disease surveillance is much higher for Covid-19. China unfortunately did nothing (and lied about) a disease that demanded immediate action. Unlike SARS, it isn't as easy to have a delayed response. This thing just spreads too easily so the failure to respond early has a much larger impact. It doesn't matter now that China is quarantining entire regions of the country. The mistake was not doing that immediately.

The first clinical trials in China have shown that the pneumonia can be to a degree cured by chloroqinue. Only 500 mg for 10 days.

I think I am going to go buy a couple of packages for any event. It only costs like 15 euro and it is more or less safe to use.

Pretty genius now that drug companies can try out 'experimental' drugs on so many people since they are infected

    They do NOT.

They only use experimental doses and experimental combinations but the drugs themselves are all old as old can be.

    Chloroqinue is 70 years old.

Then they also try HIV and influenza medicines all long ago tested.
