Today 6040+ infected, 132 dead. 7000 suspected cases in China, under observation waiting for test results. Tibet the only province that was infection free and had imposed strict border checking got their first case. A jump of 30% in infections. These aren't all new infections but only because test kits are more available now. We can also expect that most if not all the suspected cases will be confirmed when the test results come back.
If anybody cares those silly little surgical masks that asian people love actually don't provide much if any protection for you. You need an N95 mask at minimium, which makes a good seal on the sides. Mostly, it's all just talismans and charms to make you feel like you are exercising control over something that is mostly out of your control.
British airways have suspended all flights to and from mainland China until March. If you have friends, family or co-workers in China who may be interested to leave, it's better to do it now before more airlines follow suit and there's no plane available.
These super spreaders are the most scary part. Remember the story of Typhoid Mary , the cook who caused several outbreaks of cholera ?
You mentioned the lack of bathroom soap and other public sanitation. That takes years of messaging... I thought at the very least it reduces transmission by infected wearers.
Most malls do have soap, but lots of office buildings and restaurants don't there. Also no paper towel in lots of places. I don't get why. But I thought South Korea, Taiwan, HK were all like that. I remember going to public restrooms in those places without soap. Also lack of toilet seat cover. If we really have to complain about it, the squat shithole is the worst.
All tears when you had to go, and that. Worse, every ****-can was taken, except one, and then you know why when you saw it ... and you had to go.
