Rivera is a good hire for them. He's not an elite x's and o's guy, but he's a nice guy and is good with the media. He runs a tight ship and is well respected among his peers.
Look, if they want a Patriot reject & want to give him all the control, I'll give them William O'Brien for a conditional 5th round pick
McDaniels was apparently a huge d*ck his first stint as HC. The prospect of him with full control and Baker, ODB and Landry would could be spectacular to watch.
Jason Garrett canning coming soon? https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/28412867/cowboys-move-jason-garrett-source-says
Jerry was either really torn or this was a big FU and I’m gonna do when and how I want. An interesting name that has popped up is Dan Mullen. Coaches Dak at Miss St.
He is really really close with Garrett. Jones has known Garrett for nearly 30 years. Garrett has been a coach and seen Jones almost every day for 15 years. He has been his head coach for what has to be close to a decade. Jones really thinks highly of Garrett as a man. The players do too. So I am sure Jones is having a really hard time firing Garrett and is trying to show him he respects him. I don’t know if it is true, but in Chicago there was a report that Jones is trying to get Garrett to accept an executive title. There are a lot of things to dislike about Jerry Jones but I appreciate the sense of loyalty and respect he has for Garrett.
Ya I don’t doubt that. Just seems that both sides could’ve come to a decision earlier, whether a reassignment or just moving on. An interesting theory I read was that Jerry was trying to wait for the Giants to make a hire first. Garrett played for the Giants and they were reportedly interested in him when they canned Coughlin a few years back. Don’t think Garrett would necessarily be a good hire but compared to some of the names being thrown out, he definitely wouldn’t be a bad one.
I can respect that, but let's all agree he wasn't what the Cowboys need to take them to the next level. Keeping him in some capacity, as genuine and as loyal as that is, would have been a bad decision. I am glad Jerry finally bit the bullet and decided to move forward so someone can come in and right this ship.
Yes he was criticized for not adapting to changes in the game over the last few years. My guess is he is willing to do whatever the owner wants in exchange for money and the chance to coach a solid roster. In the past he has been considered good at working with quarterbacks but the last few seasons he and Rodgers did not see eye to eye. The biggest decision he made was to name Rodgers the starting QB even when Farve wanted to keep playing with the Packers.
Wade is always good for a few seasons where ever he goes, and then is asked to leave or leaves on his own.
I know a lot of lifetime Cowboy fans that would wish he gave half that respect to Tom Landry and Tex Schramm.
Matt Rhule meeting with Panthers today and meeting with Giants tomorrow. Seems like above average chance he leaves for NFL?
