Verlander on 3 days rest is the best option. The second best option is Cole on 2 days rest. This is reality. Urquiddy is not going out there and shutting down this Rays lineup.
You think this place is bad? Try Twitter Astro fans. Wow. There's some normal ones, but the bad ones are...insane. like almost GARM crazy. One dude went on a crazy tirade as to why Hinch should have been fired after the WS win.
Are you saying any second guessing is nonsense? 3 days rest has always been a topic during the playoffs. It’s not the norm. It’s one of those decisions that will bring up debate. Yes... I will gladly get on this board tomorrow and apologize for doubting the decision to pitch Verlander on three days rest if he looks great and we win. I pray that’s what I’m doing.
The debate only occurred because he thinks you're rooting for Houston to lose. No surprise he's also the latter person in my last post.
I also find it useful to think about this from an opposing team's fan standpoint. If you were a fan of the Rays, who would your rather have your team face tomorrow? Urquiddy? Or Verlander on 3 days rest? As an Astros fan, I'm pleasantly surprised and less apprehensive of them throwing out an opener and getting a bullpen game... vs. them throwing Glasnow (who looked electric) on 3 days rest.
The ENTIRE context of this post is performance. Searching for the exact word is simply grasping at straws due to a wack thesis. The Rays have outscored the Stros while committing errors which gifted the Astros runs. So yeah.. thus far, the run production is embarrassing compared to TB. Hopefully Greinke was rusty and the bats warm up.
What I am afraid of on short rest is his longevity, not quality. What I am imagining is he makes it 5 or 6. You then have 3 or 4 innings to cover. You still have decisions to make.
If we lose tomorrow, which we wont...game 5 the Ray's will be able to use Glasnow, Snell and Morton with no need for a bullpen. So we win tomorrow, count on it. The bats are gonna come alive. Dormant too long.
Yup, the Astros have gotten lucky with some errors and outside of that not much. Not worried about Verlander, bats need to win this game.
