Doesn't matter Brian. I still gave away a Pro Bowl caliber player because I didn't like him for a 3rd round pick Brian. Paid half his salary for him to go away Brian.
LOL. That's not the way it works. Interestingly Watt is not getting to the QB now that offenses don't have to account for him and Clowney.
It's been known that Mercilus plays better without Clowney. However, that doesn't mean that the Texans got screwed over in the value that they got for a Pro Bowl player. They should have gotten more.
All of this is true. I don't know why this is even a topic of conversation anymore. It's just truth. Yes, Mercilus got moved back to his natural position when Clowney left. And he's been wrecking ****, passrush wise at least, he's not the run defender Clowney was by a long stretch.
This and if the Texans were so confident of Mercilus they would have extended him BEFORE the season and trading Clowney.
But not in that position Mercilus and Charles Omenihu are playing Clowney spot. Also...Jacob Martin is getting reps too. Omenihu was inactive against the Saints.
whitney is his replacement because he is now playing his position. If Clowney was still here, whitney would not be in the position to make the plays he is making
if memory serves correct, he also started slow last year. His 2nd game was much better than the first and he almost got to the QB twice not to mention forced atleast a couple of holding penalties (that were actually called)
GET OVER IT. It's done. Move on. "Texans got screwed", OK? Nothing you can do about it. Only Cal McNair can. Until then.....MOVE ON.
He was possibly my favorite draft pick. And no, I'm not biased at all. Needs to bulk up a bit to play the 3-4 end, but all the talent is there.
If the Texans have suitable replacements at Clowney’s position... their pass rush should be more consistent. Because Clowney, in and of himself, is inconsistent. Yes, he is the superior run defender... but the line did hold up against a hellacious RB yesterday.
