I don't think Sanders is my top choice, but this little episode will have zero effect on how I end up voting.
Except that is what they were doing until they got caught. They were working their guys 60 hours.Bernie was just being a capitalist too.
There is a difference between a campaign that wants the government to be responsible for doing things with tax dollars and Sanders who want all employers to be obligated to pay a 15 dollar minimum wage. Sanders needs to put his donor's money where his mouth is.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding something; it's possible. My main points are: a) the hypocrisy of Sanders advocating a federal $15/hr minimum wage, then not giving it to his own workers. Shouldn't he be setting an example? b) You said the current political market supports full-time political workers (ie, in some sense, "the free market"), and I said that "isn't this the market dictating the wages of Sanders workers, and the market is dictating that they are making less than $15/hr?" Thus, it seems to me that you have conflicting views: a) that the federal min wage should be higher and b) that the market says that there should be full time political workers. And I'm saying that that market is dictating (mostly Bernie dictating, in this case) that those workers make less than $15/hr. I apologize if I'm missing something -- I'm incredibly busy right now -- but it wouldn't surprise me if our differences and misunderstandings came instead from wildly different philosophical premises. That's happened to me before, on this board. You're right about one thing at least; it's probably not worth spending a whole lot of time on this.
NOW BERNIE HAS DONE IT This is just too much. Expect the mainstream media and the mainstream politicos to go nuts or perhaps just silent. Let's see. tweet As president, I will implement a simple process: If you are a citizen 18 years or older, you are eligible to vote. End of discussion. 11:05 AM - 24 Jul 2019
The story about his campaign pay, I have to believe he was just unaware of what was going on again. Either way it’s a bad look, he has to be more on to of him campaign, or at least higher people to take care of it in a way he would.
Great one hour interview which puts the mainstream corporate media to shame. Bernie does a good job reaching out to a larger audience.
I was coming to see if someone posted this. I get that Warren refuses to go on FOX NEWS because of their Bullsh-t. I'm guessing she might not go on one of these right-wing-ish podcasts too. But Bernie gets it; he needs to get his message out there. The Media is painting him like a nut job, but if he can continue to gets his unfiltered, unedited, viewpoints out there, in popular spaces, it can only benefit him. The Fox News Town Hall was a success and this Joe Rogan thing is a huge success too. The comments are overwhelmingly positive.
I doubt you see this poll on the Fox/Mainstream TV news or the NYT or WaPO. http://orlando-politics.com/2019/08/13/gravis-marketing-new-hampshire-poll-race-heats-up/ New Hampshire (August 8, 2019) v2 Sanders Leads in New Hampshire, State Leans Blue in 2020 Winter Springs, FL – Gravis Marketing has released its first 2020 New Hampshire Democratic Primary poll and finds Sen. Bernie Sanders sitting atop the Democratic Primary field with 21% of the vote. Former Vice President Joe Biden took second place with 15% of New Hampshire Democratic primary goers supporting him. Behind Sanders and Biden, Sen. Warren is at 12% respectfully followed by Mayor Buttigieg with 8%, Sen. Kamala Harris at 7%, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard at 5%, Andrew Yang and Tom Steyer each with 4%, and Rep. Julian Castro and former Rep. Beto O’Rourke at 2%
Do other random New Hampshire polls get more coverage? Did the one from earlier this week get mentioned anywhere?
It would be helpful if he knew the powers of the Presidency and that he can't actually do this. At best, it would be Start of discussion.
You are right, but really fail to see the big picture. Often times the candidates talk about what they will try to do, assuming bills or passed in Congress etc. I think you would prefer the type of candidates that Warren wondered about at the 2nd debate, when she said: "Why go to the trouble of running for president if all you want to do is talk about what cannot be done." (Let me be clear for you that this is not an exact quote ) You might want to go get the exact quote.
Where was the big coverage of the NH poll earlier this week? No, I get the big picture. The problem is that one of Bernie's big weaknesses in the eyes of people who don't support him is that he's big on fluff, but lacks any of sort of realistic basis for anything. I - and many others - have zero interest in a politician who talks a big game but has no plan to accomplish any of it. I'd much rather have someone make real progress in people's lives - like 20 million people getting health coverage - than doing nothing for 4 years because you had no realistic way to accomplish anything. Statements like this about voting rights just reinforces the notion that Bernie just likes to talk a big game without having any actual plans. Regardless of my disdain for Bernie, if he wants to ultimately break out of the 20-25% range, he has to figure out how to convince his non-core voters that he's worth voting for, and he's not really accomplishing that as of yet. His problem is not media bias or anything like that - it's that a lot of voters don't support him for very legitimate reasons, and that's a problem he has to solve. He can't keep blaming others for it. This is also weird, because this was literally an example of Bernie talking about things that cannot be done. Much more useful would be him listing out a comprehensive proposal on voting rights of things that actually can be done and are within his powers as President - or even working with Congress.
Was the poll the week before widely reported? Again a small point. This is the first New Hampshire poll I have seen. Are the polls done weekly there? I have read several general stories claiming that Sanders was running poorly in NH and that Warren was doing so great in NH because there are a lot of highly educated white people in NH , a strong demographic for her. Sanders did wipe out Hillary so bad in NH in 2016 that she failed to meet the 15% threshold to get one delegate, so I did wonder about these stories Sanders was doing so poorly there without mention of polling data. Talking a big game, but no plan? Well I remember you repeating this talking point before with respect to Sanders and healthcare. You could try some easy research instead. Try Bernietax.net a calculator see how your own income level and expenditure on healthcare would probably make you better off. It integrates Sanders tax plans with his Medicare4 All proposal.. You could also check out https://www.sanders.senate.gov/download/options-to-finance-medicare-for-all?inline=file Any grad student or you are I could quickly cut and paste various plans to reform the electoral system for instance as you are touting. Sanders has a plan for political mobilization of the public and the proven boldness and fearlessness of a leader to set the agenda which even the mainstream press acknowledges is the dominant theme that the other candidates copy or react to.
[Premium Post] I mean seriously, how dumb do you have to be to think that Bernie Sanders' policies are good for Americans' quality of life? The only people that might agree with Bernie would be 1) Youth who have no life experience; 2) Total freeloaders; 3) Emotional-thinkers who have no economics, math or logic skills, or 4) Low IQ, gullible people. You can't just promise to give everything away for free without society collapsing upon itself. It's absurd that this even has to be said. Socialism is failing everywhere you look, yet we want to bring it here? Deeply unpopular. Bernie supporters are doing a great disservice to the other Democrats (and more importantly, to Independents), which is fine with me. GOOD DAY
Any candidate trying to improve the healthcare system gets my vote. At least Bernie is trying that. Healthcare is too damn expensive.
