What a joke. You can't trade 4th round picks for back up RBs.

Should have just drafted Trayveon Williams in the 5th.

Hilarious. This board has been screaming about RB for over a year and they make a solid move for a really good fit and CF goes crazy negative. Doesn't matter what this team does until they make a playoff run they will be dissed repeatably. If by some miracle they trade for a corner or Trent Williams the majority of the board will come unraveled on how bad the deals were.

He fell out of favor with an inept coaching staff and front office.

Now they have Nick Chubb (the future) and Kareem Hunt (the reclamation)... there's no need for Duke's services once both those guys are in the lineup.

Still I agree I would have pushed hard for a conditional 5th rounder that could turn into a 3rd based on production. He is a serviceable pass catching back with a more change of pace role, than a bell-cow type back.

Mike Clay is a fantasy football analyst for ESPN. Here's his updated projections for the Texans now with Johnson:

So I guy who supposedly has a hamstring injury history hasn’t missed a game, which somehow makes him injury prone. Who uses the phrase injury prone to describe a situation like that?

It’s also from McClain so take it with a grain of salt.

Huh? Teams draft backups in the 4th round every year. Most 4th round picks don't even make the team, much less end up starters.

ok so a guy that gets a clause of appearing 10 games to compensate draft picks has no history of injury ok. its just no where near a factor. nvm the fact that theres games he appears he gets less than 5 touches

I love this trade. Johnson is a talented multi purpose back who has been stuck in a crap situation that has depressed his opportunity and value. His contract is reasonable and if he flames out he can be cut loose next year with little dead money.

Short term thinking? Paying one of the best 3rd down backs of all time(look at the numbers) for 3 million average the next three years in Deshaun’s prime with 39 million in cap space to spend.

Look at the Texans recent 3rd round picks.

    Great move.

Come on, guys. I know it's fun making fun of the Texans - I enjoy it too. But what's not to like about this deal?

We could have gotten this guy for a 6th rounder. Why waste a 3rd/4th on a guy who has never been anything other than a back up. This is another dumb Texans move that just illustrates how dumb this franchise is.
