Kid expected to be starring in a rotation with Cole and Verlander by now. Instead he stalled at AAA getting rocked for a few months before getting injured. I’m not going to bury him for showing his frustration on the mound. Hopefully he learned from it, turns his season around and helps the ‘Stros through a deep playoff run. God knows they could use him right now.
I was watching the video in this tweet: And the final strikeout was on apparently a 98 mph fastball from Cesar Rosado. I don't think Rosado is really a prospect at all, but it's pretty cool that they seem to have an endless supply of guys throwing in the mid to upper 90s, and you never know when something will click for guys like that.
Andrew Felts is the Communications Director for the Round Rock Express. Aledmys is at 2B and hitting second. Carlos Correa is hitting third and in his usual spot at short.
Nathan Perry (5) and Zach Biermann (3) have both hit three-run homers for Tri-City. Perry unlocking his power has become quite the development at the lower levels.
Who homered today Nick Tanielu (11, 2-run) Ramiro Rodriguez (3, solo) Nathan Perry (5, 3-run) Zach Biermann (3, 3-run) Korey Lee (2, solo) Yimmi Cortabarria (1, solo)
Perry has also thrown out half of the attempted base stealers thus far. Catchers are typically late bloomers and it would be a big boon to the system if Perry becomes a big time prospect.
Catcher is a position that has gotten a major upgrade the last 4 months: -Added Lee (1st rounder) and Stubbs (mashing out of the gate) in the draft -Signed Juan Santander for $700k as the 2nd biggest bonus of this J2 class -Perry (former 5th rd pick) breaking out -Cesar Salazar (former 7th rd pick) showing well in 1st full season (113 wRC+) -Colton Shaver taking in catching duties while mashing past High A and into AA -Nerio Rodriguez and Jose Alvarez showing well in the GCL -Miguel Palma hitting extremely well in the DSL (139 wRC+), with the other catchers on that roster also hitting well
