Texas has offered OT Willie Tyler from Iowa Western CC, and it appears that we are in position to land him per 247. https://247sports.com/player/willie-tyler-46080159/
I don't think so. More likely he would backfill depth for 2018, but we'd have him for 3 years of eligibility. From TFB: Texas will host Georgia Tech grad transfer offensive lineman, Parker Braun, this upcoming weekend. JUCO OL Willie Tyler and Virginia Grad Transfer RJ Proctor visited Texas recently but our sense is that UT would prefer to get Braun in the boat. He seems to be the highest priority offensive line target at this point. No RB news at the moment but remember that Tre Watson signed on May 6 last year. TFB: "Although there hasn’t been much to report on the grad transfer front as far as Running Backs are concerned for Texas, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them get involved with a grad transfer RB if the right one becomes available before the summer."
Yes, apparently the plan is to use him like Alvin Kamara and get him as many touches as possible. Obviously we're all hoping Derrian Brown recovers to full health regardless of football, but he's recovered quickly so football might not be impossible. Here's the latest update from his mom almost two weeks ago: "Everyday Derrian get's stronger and stronger and is setting his own goals and he said that 3 to 4 weeks he is out and ready to run that football for Texas. His first full day of therapy and he ROCKED IT!!! That's my boy!!! DB3 STRONG!!! HE keeps me strong."
Really intrigued with Whittington. I like the Ingram/Young duo but Kirk Johnson as our 3rd RB isn't ideal. Surprised we haven't heard a transfer name at least.
Very, very nice. Herman is doing some amazing work. https://www.burntorangenation.com/2...-texas-longhorns-graduate-transfer-recruiting
I love it. Evans has said all throughout his recruiting that the OL recruits mean a ton to him..."can't run if nobody blocks" sort of stuff. Herman and Hand have been doing work. There's 3 or so more serious prospects that would look great in orange.
Ya that’s a big kid. Think he has 3 years to play 3 so no RS. No idea where he projects in the depth chart
Yeah, he's a project with considerable upside. It seems likely we'll see Braun play at G/C, while Tyler will likely redshirt this season. The best way to look at Tyler is as a project within the 2018 class. Edit: Pretty sure he has 4 years to play 3.
Yup he's a 4-3, just Googled it so we can sit him for a year and he would still have 3 years of eligibility. Hand is earning that paycheck.
Per IT, Braun could be redshirt as well which is nuts. "With Braun slated to arrive in the early summer, the question now on everybody's mind is whether he'll play in 2019 or red-shirt in order to acclimate to the change in offense. Per sources it sounds like Parker prefers to red-shirt, however, if he's needed to start he likely will play. What does that mean? I'd bet on him playing next season."
Yeah, I personally can't wait to see Braun play OG and replace Vahe. Actually, I guess he'd be replacing E-Rod at RG. Makes more sense to let him pull given his experience in the triple option.
