Four were shot. We don’t know all of the details, but the reports are at least conflicting. They were serving a warrant for “black tar heroin” and found only weed and a “white powdery substance.” The chief claimed the suspects shot the police with a semi-automatic pistol and they only found a magnum revolver. The dog attacked before anyone opened fire.. Lots of details to be sorted out.

He is recovering, but the facial trauma team will have to perform more operations in the future. • A 50-year-old sergeant who suffered a gunshot wound to the face required no surgery. The officer, who has 25 years on the force, is stable and will be released later Tuesday or Wednesday. • Another 50-year-old sergeant, a 27-year veteran, who suffered an knee injury is recovering and will be released later this week. • The first officer through the door, a 33-year-old, was shot in the shoulder and has been released. The officer has 10 years on the force. • The last officer, whose family requested privacy, is in stable condition. Acevedo said he was concerned about the officer, who is "in a really tough fight" and "needs prayers." They have field test kits. If there was enough to test, and it was something really nefarious I imagine we'd have heard. I am starting to become concerned that three cops were shot and two people died over some dude's personal use dime bag. Neither dead individual has ever been arrested for drug offenses. The only previous charge was on the woman for kiting a check more than a decade ago, and she paid a fine.

I would agree with you in different circumstances but this was a known dealer house, the HPD had purchased heroin from them in the past which is how they got the warrant to begin with. The fact that they only found guns, weed, and "a white powder substance" is not that big a deal IMO given that they had previously purchased heroin from them. I get what you are saying about people protecting their home, but I think in this instance, these guys knew they were the cops and were shooting at them to prevent jail time. I think it's unfortunate that cops got shot, but this couple kind of got what they had coming. I guess I just don't have any sympathy for heroin dealers given what it does to people.

To be fair, now is the only time anyone will discuss this. I do hope the officers recover fully, but this is a discussion forum. I don’t think typing “prayers” is any more productive than discussing what happened. I also don’t believe prayer has an impact on their recovery, but I would do so if I thought it helped. I support the officers and the medical staff in charge of ensuring their recovery. I don’t think I can impact their performance.
