It is a humanitarian crisis. The humanitarian issues are not helped by a wall. Republicans mention the terrible things happening to migrants and pretend they won't come if there is a wall, yet these groups arrive at areas with existing walls. The majority of drugs pass through checkpoints.

It is not a national security crisis, which is what Republicans are pretending it is.

Damn what a bigot. Enforcing a border and sending those kids back. He's clearly a nationalist, which if I use the term like people use the separate term white-nationalist, we can call him a Nazi while we are at it. I can't even believe he has an American flag behind him. Shouldn't there be a Mexican flag too, and an UN flag while we are at it.

sounds a lot like exaggeration about eminent domain, which typically involves "just" compensation approximating fair market value and procedural opportunities for appeal

you trumpublicans are totally losing it.

i watched that entire clip and missed the part where he talked about building a wall and making mexico pay for it. or building a wall (or fence or barrier) and making americans pay for it. he didnt mention enforcement at all. he was talking about the humanitarian crisis of unaccompanied minors.

again, you trumpublicans are totally losing it.

It’s just another version of the stupid NFL kneeling bullcrap. Only this time, this manufactured culture war shut down the government for the longest amount of time in history.

Trumpers obviously know it’s stupid but they don’t care. It’s about the culture war with libtards and brown people. Has nothing to do with solving actual problems. Just making a point about Muh Culture.

We have a country half full of whiney old white peope who want to burn down the house just to pout like little babies and feel empowered in their fake lives on social media.

At some point someone will have calculated the entire cost of trump's obsessive and hate-driven push to have his vanity wall built. America is better than this...

The wall is merely a distraction while the right raids the treasury, destroys environmental and consumer protections and scales back social safety nets.

There is illegal immigration. But it's not an emergency
There are legal requests for asylum that don't get addressed in a timely fashion with reasonable legal representation. The people who get deported are often murdered. That's an emergency.

You Wallers haven't talked much about Visa abuse and funding enforcement. Why is that?

How long do you think it would take to build a 2000 mile wall? Wouldn't it be closing the barn door after the horses already escaped?

    Here is some info: https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2017-trump-mexico-wall/how-long-would-it-take-to-build/

The reason why asylum requests are taking longer and longer is because of an influx if fake applications from people who are merely economic migrants who were caught illegally entering the country. So if that is an "emergency", the only way to fix that would be to secure the border and there's no legitimate way of doing that without expanding the system of physical barriers. The deported people being murdered would also become less of a problem if they couldn't get in to begin with or were convinced to not even attempt it by a system where you couldn't just walk in.

Also, I hear the red herring of visa abuse but the simple fact is that having other problems is not an argument against fixing problems. It's merely intended as a distraction to take away from an argument you can't win.

How would you know who they are without a fair hearing?

Shouldn't you be calling for funding for more Ports Of Entry and beefed up DOJ review system?

Stats (aka facts) that show visa over stays make up the majority of illegal immigration are “red herrings.” Instead, let’s shut down the government and try to build a wall for a non-existent crisis. That makes a lot more sense.

Well, if you look at the numbers, in 2018 there were over 40K asylum decisions a number that has increased nearly 90% over the previous 2 years, and over 65% of those were denied, a number that has also gone up every year for the past 6 years as the tactic of economic migrants claiming asylum once they've been caught illegally entering the country has become popularized. If you look at specifically asylum decisions that go to court (which are those you'd see from people caught illegally entering the country) over 80% of those are rejected. The influx of so many false applications has caused a massive problem when it comes to the backlog and it is a direct result of the Obama policy of allowing anyone that applies for asylum to be given a court date and allowed into the country. Essentially he created this mess.
