Woj: I think him showing up yesterday & practicing lessen the chances of him being traded. Tom Thibodeau won't be embarrassed. This isn't gonna bother him. As one exec. told me, Jimmy can scream & yell at that GM Scott Layden 20 times a day. It won't bother Tom Thibodeau. Is Jimmy playing? Is he bringing that ferocity to the court he brought yesterday? I don't know that Jimmy helped his chances of being traded by reporting & practicing.
Minny is accusing Miami and Houston of colluding to lower Butler's trade value. That's why they keep toying with each team and why they'd really like to deal with someone else or at least use another teams offer as leverage to squeeze more out of each team either in a 3-way deal or in a straight up deal.
I think that Butler would want to sign for the max under his bird rights. They don't transfer if he leaves as a free agent, but do if he is traded. So a sign and trade seems the most likely way he would depart the Rockets, in which case we get assets back.
This is so crazy. Thibs should have been fired a long time ago. I think it's very clear that either the players aren't behind him there or the game has left him behind. You can't be known for being a defensive guru and be ranked 12th in the league in defensive rating. If they can't be top 5 then what is he there for? p.s. without Jimmy they were the 24th ranked defense in the league in 2016-2017.
I guess Butler found the "four guys" Moses Malone was looking for years ago. Now there was a work ethic. RIP big guy.
I didn't watch it all. Is there anyone here who has and can confirm he indeed said that? If so then wow. A trade request all summer long and they do nothing about it.
