Absolutely not. He's a liability and if he continues, he will cost the Astros some games in the postseason.
I don't get the "Keuchel is terrible" bandwagon. I know he's not a hard throwing strikeout guy, but he gave the Astros 200+ innings with a 3.74 ERA. If Verlander or Cole gave the Astros 5 innings of 2 run ball no one would be complaining.
He's certainly not Cy Young Dallas Keuchel anymore, but he had a solid year. He had ~5 or 6 sub par starts that messed up his overall ERA, but was darn solid for the rest of his starts. He also had a few tough luck losses and no decisions where he pitched very well. I honestly think people are really spoiled. A lefty that has a 3.74 ERA with 200+ innings is a darn good pitcher in the American League.
He doesn’t need overpowering stuff because he a helluva pitcher. He put up those numbers this year after an awful start. I cannot and will not complain about DK, he’s very important to winning another WS imo.
I was looking up guys with similar careers, similar stats, similar innings pitched, etc. for their big contract. He's also a lefty...so that adds value. I'm going to say 5 years $130 million. Also wouldn't be surprised if someone throws $150 million at him.
Yeah, not in this market...not with Dallas’ velocity inconsistency and his medicals. Teams are going to be apprehensive about a 4-5 year deal to a pitcher that has his shoulder attached with duct tape and a rubber band.
Did I ever say that I want him cut? His inconsistency worries me, especially when he gets behind in the count. Obviously he pulled it out today, and the team is all the better for it. But I always get the feeling that he'll give up runs when he's out. I just don't have full trust in him. Is that an unforgiveavle opinion? You guys act like I'm vilifying the second coming of Jesus.
Based on how you originally posted yeah it was a pretty dumb one. Your “feeling” has no bearing on how he is in reality whatsoever. Do you want him to be this huge strikeout pitcher? Bc that’s not what he is and never has been. He didn’t become a great pitcher doing any of that. Try having an educated opinion with relevant context, then maybe you’ll have a better chance at being taken seriously
