Former Astros Prospect All-Name Team member Diogenes Almengo was signed by Baltimore and had a really good year in A ball. He was drafted (along with several current Astros prospects Abreu, De La Cruz, and others) in the Venezuelan Winter League today.
Nah bro D&D is where we make paradigm shifting policy changes and legislation. Or it's where we go to belittle our Clutchfans bretheren and get completely triggered. I know it's one of those two things, I always forget which.
(not astro related) I do believe that this is the day that Ted Williams said "**** you I'm playing" and then went 6-8 in a DH to end up at .406. He could have sat out and been at .3999. I do believe this is also the same day he hit a HR in his last AB, at Fenway. He did not tip his cap to the crowd or make a curtain call.
I know it has been awhile since he was an Astros, but I always loved Hunter Pence when he was here. Might ending his career this weekend given his injuries, season, and contrast situation.
He's been with the Giants since at 2012 trade with the Phillies. Always been a big fan of Pence, too.
I love this guy and this send off. Maybe Astros could offer a spring training invite at least, see he has anything left since he refused to retire this summer https://www.mlb.com/cut4/hunter-pence-rode-on-scooter-after-last-game/c-296716748 https://www.sfchronicle.com/giants/...ns-say-farewell-in-Giants-finale-13270593.php
No thanks. He was an okay player for us during a period when the team was on the treadmill and lacked talent. Didn't really do anything of note for us and only played here 4.5 years. He's a fan favorite because he looks, plays, and acts goofy, that's about it.
My lasting memory of Hunter Pence is that Matt Jackson always said he throws like a girl (I think it was Matt Jackson). Hunter was good during some very dark, dark years in Astros history, so I'm grateful for that. Plus as far as I've ever read he is a really good guy. But I don't need to see him in an Astros uni again.
He was better than okay. He's wasn't a Biggio, Bagwell, Altuve, Bregman, Correa level player, but he was about almost as good as Springer was his first 4.5 years.
Took him a few years to put it together, but he's been awesome this season. Even if we hadn't included him in a trade, it's unlikely we would have been able to be as patient with him as Atlanta.
Pence got sh!tfaced with a stripper and ran through a sliding glass door trying to get out of a hot tub and go inside to get a condom. You have to respect that.
