    https://abovethelaw.com/2018/09/brett-kavanaugh-perjured-himself-impeachment/

This is just one example, but basically, he lied under oath at his confirmation hearings repeatedly.

Since we have an ignorant serial liar in the white house, has the bar dropped so low that we can just have regular old perjury be OK when being appointed to the DC Circuit?

The evidence is very clear that he was deliberately untruthful.

Of course he should. However, my question is can he be impeached from the SC if he is confirmed?

If Kavanaugh is impeached, Trump can pardon. Only a small speed bump on his way to the USSC.

    Well... we re-impeach. Dude lied.
    And I re-pardon. He's my liar.
    Okay. Re-impeach.
    Re-pardon infinity! We're done, losers!
    Dammit.

The fact that he will not recuse himself from any Trump related law suites is a red flag. This is all a Senate Democrat needs to not confirm.

The fact that he has been caught lying in his confirmation hearing is another read flag. The Pro Choice Republicans are going to have take a lier's word on his abortion stance.

The fact that he equates birth control with abortions implies he understands neither. Anyone who takes his word on Roe v. Wade as settled law may be in for a surprise.

It doesn't matter. First week of October he will be on the Supreme Court.

They have the votes to push him through. I wouldn't be surprised if a few Democrats in Red states throw him a vote too to try and help their re-election.

Good article but why wasn’t this brought up sooner? I know the timing shouldn’t matter but this is pretty old stuff. Is there a reason why it wasn’t pursued further against Kavanaugh?

Clarence Thomas is a pervert and dishonest, but Kavanaugh built a career on deception and underhanded tactics. How embarrassing to nominate this wormy Washington operative and defend his lies because Trump might need a legal escape pod in the future. His beady eyes and doughy Ted Cruzish face probably play a part in is bad public polling, but there's nothing in his background that inspires confidence. I'd rather see a slightly more conservative Raymond Kethledge on the Supreme Court. I might not agree with his opinions but at least he's not completely corrupt. What other nominee has lied under oath five times? Good grief.

Yes, it looks like he should be impeached from his current position. To Trump and some of his supporters, that's probably his biggest qualification for a job on the Supreme Court.

He should be impeached from his current position and certainly has no business being on the highest court of the land when he obviously committed perjury before Congress. That happens to be breaking the law. Good thread, Sam.
