What's with drafting RB/WR/TE with all 9 of your picks when we only have 6 starting spots? I'm interested in seeing how that works out for you. And I'm with PSJ - I just think Wagner is trending in the wrong direction.
I'm lowering my risk profile by allocating the highest amount of capital to the only positions that matter in this format. You could argue LB is important because you can start 3, but the lack of consensus and knowledge of defensive personnel means several valuable LBs won't be drafted until later if at all. I'm simply acquiring depth at the 2 positions that are the most scarce rather than worrying about positions that don't matter like QB, DL, DB, K, as their VORP is barely distinguishable compared to WR/RB.
I think that's going to bite you in the ass. I guess we'll see! I think QBs matter more than you think. There's depth for sure, but the 10th best is going to put you in a big hole every week compared to the competition. Been there, done that.
Your concept of 10th best is based on what exactly? Predictive models (draft rankings) that are guaranteed to become less and less accurate as the season progresses? I think you also fail to take into consideration that the 15th QB taken could easily end up QB5 overall. Every season has overvalued and undervalued QBs based on recency bias from the previous season. The opportunity cost of taking a QB in the top 5 rounds is generally too rich for my blood, so I stick to value-based and take a QB when it makes sense to me, which is usually later on.
I dunno, Moe. To me QB historically seems to be one of the more consistent positions at the top end year to year (Rodgers, Brady, Wilson, Brees, Newton). RB always has much greater turnover.
Last year, the difference between QB6 and QB12 was about 30 points TOTAL. The mighty Drew Brees threw 23 TDs. Goff threw more. I cant even remember who I started at QB and I won the title. I think it was Josh McCown. PHILLIP RIVERS had 29 less points TOTAL, ALL SEASON, than your BELOVED Tom Brady. In a 12 team league maybe you reach for QB. But just 10 of us? @moestavern19 is going FULL Diamond Level on y'alls ass.
This is exactly the point, the position offers consistency and in a 10 team league with 1QB starting, there are bound to be streaming options available on the waiver wire that won't ding your expected points too hard in a league where you start 13 players. I thought you baseball dorks would understand the concept of VORP by now.
