Everyone needs someone in their life . . . .that will ride for them . . . . . Like Republicans ride for Trump and their leadership Rocket River
that i'd agree, provided that all you want is strong bitter-tasting coffee, which is my preference; on that basis, i'll take MCD coffee over SBUX coffee every time
This is the equivalent of showing five pictures of one kid pushing another on a swing and one picture of one kid pushing another off a cliff and sarcastically implying that any differentiation between the first 5 and the last picture is illogical and hysterical. Cue the Billy Madison quote....
That analogy is an inaccurate one, but I wouldn't have to explain to that to anyone with a fully functional brain.
As expected, the US Senate voted unanimously, 98-0 against allowing the Russians to question US officials. http://www.businessinsider.com/senate-vote-trump-russia-officials-mcfaul-2018-7 Exactly right and exactly as expected. Of course we will not hand our intelligence officers over to the Russians. However, what this also confirms is that the Russians are not going to be handing their people over to us, either. Of course anyone with a fully functioning brain knew that Mueller's indictments of these 12 Russian intelligence officers was just political theater and that he did not even really want to see them in a US courtroom. But for those who did not previously realize this, today's unanimous vote by the Senate makes it official.
So you disagree with Trump that we should entertain handling over Americans to Putin for interrogation? These are Americans that were Putin's critics and where there is no credible claims of wrong doing. Why do you think Trump was entertaining this? If this was so exactly right, why didn't the Press Secretary shut it down immediately? Why didn't the Admin forcefully pushed back? On the 2nd point, that's exactly Mueller's job. He find criminals and indict them. Detailed evidences were presented and our Grand Jury system indicated these individuals. Why is Mueller doing his job a political theater? Do you think that he shouldn't do his job - see evidences of criminal acts, but do not present them, do not indict them? Bury them and move on because Putin wouldn't turn them over? Is that how we do criminal investigations - if we believe that a foreign nation wouldn't turn over the indicted, we do not proceed?
Only a perfect dumbass would think that Trump wanted to had over American intelligence officers to Putin to be interrogated. Of course it was Mueller and Rosenstein who effectively proposed such an arrangement, with their indictment of 12 members of the GRU, which is the Russian intelligence services. It should be obvious to any reasonable person who is not mentally disabled that the only way this expectation of Mueller and Rosenstein could possibly be entertained would be if we reciprocated and provided our intelligence officers to the Russians for interrogation, which as discussed in the OP of this thread, was completely unrealistic, and something that was NEVER going to happen. EVERYONE in the leadership of the US and Russian intelligence communities, including Mueller and Rosenstein, and also Putin and Trump knew this, and never for a split second did any of them ever think otherwise. However, because of dumbasses like this reporter, and many other like minded dumbass reporters here in the US, who you probably listen to with bated breath, we have to watch these Trump and Putin go through the motions of mocking the apparent stupidity of these journalists by explaining the reciprocal nature of the arrangement that would be required, as if explaining it to people who had never considered this possibility before. Putin's offer to do this under reciprocal conditions was very reasonable, and actually was an act of some courage on his part, as if Russia had first indicted some our cyberwarfare leadership at the CIA, it is not clear that we would have had the courage to match this offer the way that Putin did here. But you will beclown yourself even worse than you already have if you act as if you do not know that Putin was laughing at this guy for being a dumbass - he was toying with him in as gentle a manner as was imaginable under the circumstances - and Trump was just playing along, knowing that the indictments of Mueller and Rosenstein of these 12 Russian state-actor cyberspies was all just political theater, and not one other thing. Which was one of the main reasons why Trump refused to affirm these indictments, because he knew they were just for show and that never were intended to be acted on. And they won't be. In fact, the only reason that a "Special Counsel" would be needed was because they wanted to go after Trump. Going after the GRU is typically what the CIA does, a spy vs spy contest that has been ongoing since at least WWII and probably before. Surely the Russians have been meddling in our society during that time, as have the Chinese and others, and as we have been meddling in Russian and Chinese affairs, and many others during that same time. Even if we all of the sudden wanted to start treating foreign acts of espionage by foreign spy services as domestic crimes - which is not a plausible way to combat state sponsored acts of spying and espionage - that would be handled by the FBI/DOJ and not a "Special Counsel". Which was obviously not what happened here. This should never have been a "criminal investigation" and in fact it is not being handled as one, despite the political show of the 12 indictments. You may not have noticed, but Mueller immediately handed these indictments over to the DOJ, and Rosenstein assigned them to the DOJ National Security Division. This division does not do criminal cases. It does fisa warrants, counter-terrorism and counter-espionage work. These indictments have just been black holed, and will never be seen again. But at least Mueller and Rosenstein were able to show the public that they were "doing something," even though the outcome of that is certain to be a big fat zero.
the difference boreby, is that none of the other presidents stood up in front of the entire world and threw their own intel agencies under the bus, insulted the united states by saying we were "foolish" and then said putin is "strong and powerful". your god donald trump put russia over our own country...well, maybe not yours comdrade, but the rest of ours. im done coddling trump supporters...yall are f**ing traitors to this country.
I haven't read the whole thread (what would be the point?), but I'm sure it's been pointed out, pre-Trump, that if Obama or Hillary were acting so craven toward Putin, conservatives would have skewered them. Skewered. Hell, you guys still put Kalashnikovs in Hillary's hands and have her climbing into the Benghazi compound. Trump's capitulation to Putin looks like it runs pretty deep. It's, like, you know, bad. And obvious.
Indicting people who attempted to attack our democracy isn't proposing an exchange in any way shape or form. You are just making up stuff at this point. Trump said it was a very interesting idea when it was proposed. You don't indict people because you believe a foreign govt. will or won't hand them over. You indict them because you have evidence that they've committed a crime. You seem very bothered that because of these indictments, The media and the public now have solid evidence of the attacks on our democracy. That was a reasonable offer? If Russia had the same type of specific evidence against our guys that we have against theirs we can talk. Russia has presented nothing of the kind. You don't hand over ambassadors or anyone else to a murderous dictator. The CIA doesn't make indictments. They present evidence to proper officials who can then act upon that evidence. That is what was done. You are very adamant that we shouldn't indict people who have committed crimes against people of the United Starts.
Mueller indicted Russians for election meddling so Trump would have to hand over an ambassador for Russian interrogation. Perfect dumbass indeed.
