Anxious to see the move. Options: Tucker (would have to be added to 40 man) Davis Smith (come off DL) Guduan Hoyt Boshers C Perez Deetz James (would have to be added to 40 man) Since both Gurriel and Smith are coming back in the next 3 days, unless it’s Tucker (in which case Marisnick, White, or Kemp would be sent down when Smith comes back) whoever comes up will only be on the roster for a couple days.
My guess is Davis comes up now, and stays until Correa comes off the DL. So, that means Reed is gone when Gurriel comes back, White is gone when Smith comes back, and Davis is the last man standing. Can't see any reason to bring up a pitcher to replace Correa when Smith will be back in short order. But man, it'd be fun if it was Tucker...
Reed, Davis and White (plus Gattis) are relatively redundant. I would think they have to bring someone up who is on the 40-man and who can play the OF. Fisher? But nobody listens to me anyway.
Davis. Fisher. Neither one of those are exciting. My guess would be Davis. It allows you to play Bregman at SS and put Marwin in the OF.
If it was longer than a couple days I'd agree. But it shouldn't be longer than a couple days that all those guys are up together, and Reed can play 3b, LF or 1b for a couple innings if it comes to that, for 1 day in Tampa. I don't see the need for an OF, as we still have Springer, Reddick, Marisnick and Kemp up and healthy, and Davis could play LF in a pinch. All this move does is confine Marwin to the IF for the next couple days/week, which I doubt AJ has any problem with or means there will be a need for any 40 man machinations. But I'm guessing as well and nobody listens to me either.
Or Yuli at 3B and Davis at first. Whichever they think is less cringe worthy. Agreed. That was my bet on Davis that I might not have explained best, and that's also my bet as to why Davis is up longer than Reed and White who I think get shipped out by Sunday evening with Gurriel and Smith coming back.
The next game Reed plays in LF or at 3B will be the first game he plays in LF or 3B at the professional level.
I disagree. I think this is the perfect time to bring up Tucker. To bring him up with everyone healthy requires a “tough decision.” So just do it now and let the dominoes fall later.
AJ Hinch, not Reed. I’m saying davis could play any of the corners or LF in an emergency which was why I was guessing he’d be up till Correa came back. But they called up Perez instead. What the hell so I know.
