I wonder if he had a package he was planning to send and he opened it to blow himself up.

Name just got released. Police searching his house. Address has been posted elsewhere. Photographer was arrested at the house when he snuck past police tape.

Dammit you don't live in Austin and aren't interested in what's been happening in this city, but only your own exhausting grievance that you air at every opportunity. We get it. Please go back to the D&D and don't derail this thread for the rest of us.

So who were the packages addressed to?

Perhaps he was angry internet forum guy who stalked and targeted his victims with whom he disagreed with online?

Can we get some validation of this?

His blog postings make him sound like a milque toast right wing Christian.

Maybe but when you look at how well he planned the bombings, it doesn't appear to be the result of stalking. The first bombs were placed in the poorer areas of East Austin where there are very few homes with video cameras. This allowed him to simply drive up and place the package on the victims' porches. Anyone who uses Amazon knows they use people who drive regular cars to make deliveries. The next bomb was in the Barton Creek watershed where one can easily disappear into the wooded areas. This appears to be by design in order to make it nearly impossible to identify the culprit which leads me to believe this to ba a concerted campaign of terror. Against whom we may never know. The guy was essentially a ghost which is why the police intially thought he had military training. In fact, I fully expected him to move on to placing IED like devices in trashcans or dumpsters. He could have even moved further west toward the Lake Travis areas which are more rural and where it would have been easier to plant these packages. Instead, he started sending packages through FedEx which ultimately led to his downfall because that allowed the police to get video on him even though he attempted to disguise his appearance. As to motive, we'll just have to wait for the full story. TMZ just popped a story after combing through his social media: https://www.tmz.com/2018/03/21/austin-bomber-mark-conditt-against-gay-marriage-abortion-blog/.

Apart from politics, I'll say it again: 23 is exactly when a lot of severe mental illness can kick in for young men. Classic schizophrenia onset, for instance.

Internet, etc, didn't help, but please be wary of anyone weaponizing his alleged belief system.

    So glad it's over.
