This dude should not be taking up a roster spot. No way he's cracking rotation anytime in the near future. Our rotation of bigmen hasn't got it done this year
With Time He can be pretty good But he just too skinny for center spot but his stretch o is for real. He can shoot. Just need confidence when he is here in the big league.
This guy is the best fit in between Tucker and Luc with the backup unit. Paul/Harden Gordon LMM Qi Tucker
part of what we did with Yao...was we tried changing Yao's body type. With Zhou we should really help him get stronger without losing his quickness...I think he would be well served remaining lean. Think much of Yao's injuries were a result of us trying to make him heavier than he needed to be. Zhou can be a terrific stretch four. Cant teach height and the dude can shoot.
To me, the only thing that's stopping Zhou Qi from playing meaningful minutes is his lack of mental toughness. He is completely timid and uncomfortable on the court. As others observed, he literally doesn't take a single shot during warm-up. If he drops that damn ballboy mentality and plays with aggression - I'm talking screen setting, rolling to the basket, going after offensive rebounds, the Rockets could use 10 minutes from him with the second unit.
he does go to the g-league for a game or two, pretty sure it's tough to get any continuity going in either league switching back and forth. Probably should be down there full-time.
They have to call him back up right? Black and Nene out so I really think he could at least be an ok rim defender against Suns. Let's see what he can do Friday.
They have quietly gotten better, there are 9 worse teams than them just looking at current standings.
Exactly right. Time while with Rockets projects to class time with Lucas/Rogers (developmental coaching). RGV Vipers play the Rockets style. So when the Vipers play Qi at the 5.....they are trying to develop a player at that position. Not that he couldn’t log time at PF in the future. Always nice to have leverage vs RFA like Capela if Capela wants to accept an outrageous contract like Parsons signed (with terrible trade kicker). Nice having DeAndre Jordan willing to give Houston a hometown discount if Capela leaves too.
He's sending a message to he D League with his 12 points a game. His FG percentage is up and so is his 3 pointers, however his free throw shooting is Shaq like at 46%.
Can Qi at least knock on the opponents locker room door and be a diversion? So Capela doesn’t have to
