I would be good with all offensive lineman and secondary picks, but you know that several free agents are going to be signed. They need to be mostly offensive lineman. Did the big guy who tore tendons in both legs ever recover? Can't think of his name.

He was mediocre, at best, when healthy.

No one has returned to play meaningful minutes having his succession of injuries.

If he were to return -- don't count on it -- he'd be an OG.

True, but I don’t foresee him getting better after the type of injury he had.

He has no future in the NFL. He's effectively been retired for over a year now.

Pro Football Focus can be great but at the same time they can be absolutely trash. They had Watson's grade as only 2 or 3 points better than Savage. And they had Fitzpatrick ranked higher than him. They also had John Ross of the Bengals (who didn't have a single reception all season) graded higher than Mike Williams. So I'm not sure how much stock I will put in their grades going forward.

I prefer QBR over PFF. I think it was Mike Sando(?)/ESPN who did a study a while back on analytics that project who a young QB will become, and they determined that a QB's QBR over his first 16 starts had highest correlation to his future play: either QBR based or just tier based, like franchise/middle-group/bottom-group.

These numbers are unequal because they're mostly unqualified/based on small sample size, but still interesting:

    PLAYER POINTS ADDED TOTAL QBR

    Deshaun Watson, HOU 29.4 81.9
    Jimmy Garoppolo, NE/SF 18.1 80.6

    Dak Prescott, DAL 29.4 66.5
    Patrick Mahomes, KC 1.0 64.5

    Tom Savage, HOU -12.7 38.1

    T.J. Yates, BUF/HOU -7.7 29.9
    DeShone Kizer, CLE -44.5 29.6
    Mitchell Trubisky, CHI -28.8 29.2

Notice how they provided the PFF grades for both Wentz and Dak but not for Watson. That is likely because they didn't want to highlight their own lack of credibility. If they had used PFF grades, Watson would not have been #3, but if they did not have Watson in the top 3, then the credibility of their site would be questioned. So they decided to disguise it by still having Watson at 3, but not showing what his PFF grade was.

They posted an article at some point explaining why.

The first 1.5 games Watson was bad because OBrien kept using his garbage spread ep system, and that kept his grade down. When O'Brien started using play action and misdirection, Watson was much better.

Also PFF penalizes QBs for passes that "should have been" intercepted. I think they overestimated the number of these throws, nonetheless I like that PFF tries to grade each individual play objectively and won't go back and change the score because it looks dumb.

It's a bad grading system; look at the other qbs on this list
