Removal of other deductions. That's straight tax increase homie. Plenty people will end up with tax increase.

The top get the largest portion and permanent tax decrease. Huge shift to the top. It will pay for itself with economic BOOM!!!! That's the trickle down that blew up in your face in Kansas just recently. I really have to explain that portion?

What is the excuse/need/reason to raise tax on some and to provide a temporary tax decrease on all individuals brackets so that the top can gain massively? Oh yea, trickle down, right?

Wow- you can’t get away from mentioning me- typical. Most likely jealousy- I surpass you in annual income and level of education, so you resort to schoolgirl comments. Hilariously pathetic, which of course we all know.

I like no one has even explained, with a sound argument, why this tax bill will benefit Americans overall.

Republicans aren't losing the argument, they are refusing to even bring one to the table.

not really, 70% of americans take the standard deduction, and that's about to double, good luck telling them how awful that is come tax time

my preference would be to eliminate all deductions and have an extremely low rate that is just as good, but voters are stupid and only see the elimination of the deduction instead of the net benefit, so it can never work politically

itemized deductions are insidious, politicians using the tax code to compel you to live your life a certain way, screw them

How does that bulleted list explain how any of it benefits the country overall?

I know, LOL. Kind of a dumb thing to say. But you get the point- even conservatives on this board think he’s a douche.

Honestly, the deductions help me a great deal. My home office is 13% of the overall sq. ft., so I can deduct 13% of my mortgage, electricity, etc. It has to be your principal place of business, which it is. My accountant tells me all kinds of stories about people taking ridiculous deductions, like underwear (“because I wear it to work”) or surgeons taking the home office deduction (bc unless they’re performing surgeries at home, they can’t take that) or the guy that tried to deduct escort services as a business expense, then they wound up entrapping him in a sting operation. People do crazy ****.

    This this this.

The whole argument would either be an argument in trying to prove trickle down economics AGAIN for the 3rd time in the past 50 years, or just straight up lying that its secretly a middle class tax cut.

Its easier to just troll liberals I guess.

It isn't a problem telling most of them. They already know it. That's why the tax plan is so unpopular. It has nothing close to a 70% approval rating.

Yet the republicans dominate pretty much every level of government.

Uhh, they also took away per-person exemptions, which more than nullifies the larger standard deduction for many families - and they have to hit a much higher threshold to itemize. You're either willfully being misleading or you don't know much about this bill.

Oh, if Grover Norquist likes it, it must be really good for America. Yea-ahh.

Funny thing is, when all our taxable income goes up and we pay higher taxes, the Republicans will blame dems for it.
